I know the Titans of Cult Steelbook restores the fade. WB UK also re-released the UHD a couple of months ago without the tat, so I'd imagine it contains the corrected disc, but I'm not 10000% sure.

But Nolan wasn't involved with the 4K AFAIK, just the creation of those "unrestored" 70mm prints, complete with "glorious" printed in film tears, because Kubrick totally would have wanted that! If Nolan had been put in charge of the UHD, we probably would have gotten an IP scan instead of the original A/B roll 65mm negatives, to boot.

The trouble with the UK side of things is that there was never a replacement, officially or unofficially, as Warners UK denied there was even a problem while other Warners subsidiaries in other countries were busy sending out replacements! Although the UK Titans of Cu*t version did indeed carry the corrected discs AFAIK, there’s no guarantee of getting the corrected platters if you buy the regular UK version. (Edit: Don’t mean to undermine dally's post here, I didn’t see his comment before posting this)
Me, I took a punt on the German and French editions instead and they both came with corrected discs. |

Trumball's comments in the original indiewire interview re: HFR are very intersting. He talks about inserting black frames in between real frames to recreate the shutter effect of traditional film projection to elliminate the dreaded "live TV/motion interpolation" effect. I've wondered in the past if something like this might be the key to making digital HFR "work", as I had seen a 70mm Showscan presentation (70mm film projrected at 60 FPs), as well as Universal's 70mm T2 3-D attraction (again, 60 FPS 70mm), and both times the great improvement in motion was obvious, yet neither time did I recoil in disgust like shutterless HFR digital presentations have made me do.
