In addition to Talk to Her (in terms of proper Blu-ray releases), a lot of movies from the early 2000s get overlooked: Waking Life, Storytelling, Far from Heaven, L.I.E., Elephant, The Man Who Wasn’t There, Fog of War, etc. Two of them have unsatisfactory Blu-ray releases.

Would love for the two Todd Fields films to get a blu release from someone

I've been waiting for a very long time for Little Children to come to Blu-ray so I could upgrade my DVD. Same for The Fog of War.

I kind of imagine Criterion is more likely to release The Fog of War considering their relationship with Errol Morris.

Why is there not more Van Sant in the collection already?

Literally just got my Elephant DVD out the other day to give a re-watch and was wondering why that film has no Blu. I've also been wanting Drugstore Cowboy for forever it feels like. And yes, we def need those 2 Todd Field films also, was just talking about him w someone in the Speed UHD thread.

I've been holding off on DVD's of both Elephant and Drugstore Cowboy. But seeing as how the latter is with Lionsgate, I doubt it will get a blu from CC or someone else.

Should we be expecting the Criterion announcements this week, tomorrow even?

They usually announce on the 15th if it falls on a weekday, so expect them either on Friday or on Monday.

'Spirits of The Dead' from 1969. Why isn't this in print from a boutique label?

Heard from the grapevine CC will eventually get around to 'The Man Who Wasn't There'. At least that's what it's DP said in a podcast.

That’s cool. I wish they’d also release Barton Fink. Both movies received mediocre Blu-ray releases.

Yea, this leaked last summer. Looking forward to it!

Biggest news here is that Criterion is planning on releasing a Bollywood boxset, which will have around 10 titles. They are also planning on releasing 'The Man Who Wasn't There'.

I would personally prefer if they released some other Spanish films.

(1) it’s the greatest “women’s film” by a male director, better than Sirk, Ophuls, and Fassbinder, (2) the screenplay is razor-sharp and near-perfect, (3) the direction and performances are superb, (4) the “silent movie” sequence made every director green with envy, (5) it’s one of cinema’s greatest melodramas.

Does Criterion have the rights to this? Toby Dammit is my favorite Fellini film.

I’m thinking we will get most of them eventually. Skin I Live In, Volver, Broken Embraces, and Bad Education have been unavailable for awhile now, so I’m betting on those first or Talk to Her since it’s never had a Blu-ray.

I think Talk to Her, and I’m So Exited are still in print. And Julieta and Pain & Glory since they are recent

There’s a goofy musical comedy starring Jayne Mansfield and directed by Frank Tashlin from 1956 called The Girl Can’t Help It that would look amazing on Blu-ray. Criterion needs to get on that. Freaks (1932) is also in need of a Blu-ray release.

I totally agree. I would love to see a Criterion release of the following;

Los Olvidados (1950) Director: Luis Buñuel
Nosotros Los Pobres (1948) (Mexico) Director: Ismael Rodríguez

Which part of the women essentially being inanimate objects which are creeped over by the protagonists, leading to a rape saving someone's life and the film still not giving much of a shit about her, preferring to focus on how awfully unfair it is to our two male characters that there are consequences for rape, makes it a "women's film"?
