I didn’t say it wasn’t watchable. I said it was barely watchable. I’ve watched and enjoyed it. I just wish the PQ was better, which is why I’ve held off on buying the current blu ray.

This comment of mine from last week did not age well lol, I received a non-corrected Lust, Caution disc from sale. No biggie though, I trust Kino will send a fixed disc automatically soon enough

Will just have to postpone my blind-watch for now. It was probably just easier to send out replacement discs than repackage everything, which is understandable. Just a word of warning for others than bought it, you may want to check it before getting into the movie, the title cards apparently offer important context.

On the topic of barely watchable, ask me several years ago for the definition of that and I'll show you the Kultur DVD of War and Peace. Pan and scan on top of dreadful picture quality. I didn't make it an hour in before I turned it off and forked over $30 for the Rusico DVD, which was apparantly the best version of the movie at the time...

Thankfully we have the blu ray, but I'll never forget the awfulness of that first DVD.

How did you get a picture of the antenna reception on my childhood TV?

KL Insider -

In case you missed it, KL received good mention (including links) for your Mae West blu-ray series release in the New York Times article, "Mae West Vamped and Winked. She Also Blazed a Trail We’re Still Following". This article appeared on their homepage on Wednesday, June 30 here and will appear in their print edition on Thursday, July 1 with the title, "Mae West Blazed A Modern Trail".

(For KLI: The online version may be behind a paywall. PM me if you need a pdf and I'll see what I can do on Thursday evening.)

Certainly not trying to gain any unfair advantage re: winning a TGTBATU slip, so completely unrelated have I mentioned that KLI is very smart and attractive?

Good for them. Gotta watch NYT though, never know when they may come for you. Just ask Criterion

I would love to see just about any pre-Cannon Chuck Norris get a Blu-ray release. I think the only pre-Cannon stuff currently available right now are "An Eye for An Eye", "Silent Rage" and "Breaker! Breaker!". Any of the ones you mentioned would be great, as would "Forced Vengeance", which has never been released on Blu-ray.

Oh man. I rented that about 12 years ago and watched it on my roommate's 19-inch tube set. Feels like forever ago. It was not a great experience, but I plan to get the Criterion set this month and give it another go.

It's a good Blu-ray considering the variant nature of the source material.

Coming to DVD and Blu-ray September 28th from Kino Lorber!

Never Gonna Snow Again
Directed by Małgorzata Szumowska & Michał Englert

On a gray, foggy morning outside a large Polish city, Zhenia (Alec Utgoff), a masseur from the East, enters the lives of the wealthy residents of a gated community. Using hypnotic, almost magical techniques to get a residence permit, he starts working. The well-to-do residents in their cookie-cutter homes seemingly have it all, but they all suffer from an inner sadness, some unexplained longing. The attractive and mysterious newcomer’s hands heal, and Zhenia’s eyes seem to penetrate their souls. To them, his Russian accent sounds like a song from the past, a memory of their seemingly safer childhoods. The latest from writer/director Małgorzata Szumowska (Elles, In the Name Of) and her longtime collaborator Michał Englert is an unclassifiable meditation on class, immigration, and global warming with touches of magical realism and moments of sober beauty and subtle humor.

Special features:
*Trailer
*Optional English Subtitles

Coming to Blu-ray September 28th from Kino Classics and Universal Pictures!

13 Washington Square (1928)
Directed by Melville W. Brown
Starring Jean Hersholt, Alice Joyce and Zasu Pitts

Presented in a 4K restoration from Universal Pictures, 13 Washington Square is a romantic comedy in which a meddling aristocratic mother tries to stop her son from eloping with a grocer’s daughter. So Mrs. De Peyster (Alice Joyce, Stella Dallas) dons a working class disguise and goes on a mission with her maid (an uproarious Zasu Pitts, Ruggles of Red Gap) to track down the lovers and block their illicit vows. But instead she crosses paths with a charismatic thief named Pyecroft (Jean Hersholt, Heidi) who has plans to rob De Peyster’s home. All of them end up at her house on 13 Washington Square where their lies hilariously come to light.

Special features:
*Audio commentary by film historian Nora Fiore
*Music by Tom Howe

Indeed, unless Kino have The Lonely Guy, I'd say it's almost certain the previously on Blu-ray title comes from 1989, and should be one of the following:

K-9
Parenthood
Uncle Buck
Sea of Love
Born on the Fourth of July

I suspect that the 1984 film will be Mass Appeal, not Cloak and Dagger.
Never heard of Mass Appeal, though it sounds interesting. Shame if Cloak and Dagger isn't released as that is a title I'd love to have on blu.

Born on the Fourth of July already has a recent 4k scan on streaming services and so I wouldn't be surprised if that could be it. Though I'd rather have Uncle Buck or Parenthood.
