Call me fussy, but the European case and especially disc art is awful. For a release as special as this, I'm going for the "clean" US version.

I don't usually complain about packaging art, but the posted box art is hideous. And, where is Sulu?

Gorgeous. I am not absolutely wild about the skill of the artist who drew the collage on the 4K UHD set, but I absolutely appreciate the effort and Paramount’s interest in keeping the overall vibe with thee releases in line with original key art. Using the original logo front and center, and then ad adaptation of the original poster for the standalone Blu-ray. Kudos!

Nothing wrong with 5 and 6. Juts because you do not enjoy those films does not mean others do no enjoy.

This release should be films 1-6.

The Motion Picture is by far my favorite movie of all time, for all the right (and wrong) reasons.

I'm also very glad they'll be doing the Director's Cut as well for 2022. The theatrical cut will always be my go-to version (CGI Vulcan is so out of place; I much prefer the artificial/claustrophobic original look), but it'll be nice to have both.

Here's why I think putting movies 1 through 4 together is actually a cool idea:

The Original Series showed them as a group of friends, at home on the Enterprise.

Along comes The Motion Picture, and we're shocked to find our heroes strewn by the wind, awkward and alienated from one another. Over the first four films, they go through middle age, depression, losing and rescuing a family member, losing and regaining their home.

At the very end of The Voyage Home, the family is back together, they are completely at peace, preparing to move into their new/old home: the Enterprise. Full circle.

(The movies might as well have stopped right then and there, 5 and 6 seem like afterthoughts when it comes to character development.)

Fully agree with all of this.

Also, strange that V and VI are not part of the 4K release. Not sure that I've ever seen that before in the last 30 years. Since Star Trek VI was released, on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray, the main film collection was always 1-6. There were individual release and that strange "trilogy" set with 2-4 (which kind of made some sense), but t was never marketed as "The TOS Film Series on Blu-ray." It was what it was, a full story arc within the series.

Releasing 1-4 on 4K is strange. You have to image that sooner or later, they fill put out a 1-6 box set. Maybe even a box set including the TNG films as well. How many fans will hold out for one of those and skip this release? Could that hurt sales? Strange move.

On a different note, if anyone buys the new Blu-rays, I'd love to know if there are ads, and if so, for what. I'd love to replace my 2009 Blu-rays to get rid of the JJ Trek ad.

Well, I'm glad to see that Blu-rays of the remasters are also coming out alongside the UHDs. It's strange that it's only 1-4, but I imagine the others (and hopefully the TNG films) will follow. When they do, I'll get the inevitable box set.
