i wouldnt do a vizio. heres my opinion. you have a blu-ray player and u want good quality obviously or you wouldnt have one. Even if its like 100 or 200 above what u "wanted" to spend just get a really good tv now. U wont regret it later and wish u change it in a year or 2. As i linked above those sony's u can find for 1500 - 1700 online. 1080/24p capable would be a good PLus for ya.

I wouldn't recommend a Philips, the motion judder is terrible (even with 100Hz technology).
If you can wait another 4-5 weeks and spare another $ 500 or so, I'd recommend a Samsung F86: ![]() Notable features: - Full HD resolution (1080p) - 100Hz Motion plus technology - 3 HDMI ports - Anynet+ - USB 2.0 port - 25.000 : 1 contrast ratio + Wide Color Enhancer - Superclear panel coating - Movie Plus technology to avoid motion judder - DVB-T integrated - 6ms response time - swivel stand - Game mode - optimised for gaming, allows for H-sharpness and a faster response time in games It comes in 2 sizes: 40" and 46" I've already pre-ordered mine! |

Whatever you say, bud. I've been recommending the Philips LCD tv's for a little while, but especially since I got one for my parents a couple of months ago. It has a very solid standard-def picture and an outstanding hi-def one. Blu-rays look like they're out of this world. I would definitely recommend model# 42PFL5332D/37 which is a 1080p 42" one any day. Oh, and it costs several hundred dollars less than comparable models from Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, etc. |

again the phillips isnt terrible PQ. reliability is a lil to be desired compared to toshib pan sony. the samsungs reliabilty isnt up there either yet.
But again if your wanting to get a really good tv. something your gonan be really happy with everytime you watch it. its why i suggest you dont worry about "oh the non PTS (pana toshiba sony) is 200 - 300 cheaper" and just get one of those. Go to a store. and see thema ll side by side and you'll see. |

So, this whole thing about their lack of quality, I think is a crock of doodoo. I firmly believe their negative reputation in the U.S. comes from their acquisition of Magnavox some 30 years ago. Now that's a crappy brand for sure. Oh, and by the way it was an american one. |

I have a toshiba dvd players 5 years old still works. But i can take you into the back of our store and you can see how many tv's are there for repair. Ill give u a small hint. at least 5 phillips. one toshiba. 3 samsungs, 3 vizio's and i forget the rest but i can double check or your welcome to come see for yourself. And then you can also look up the numbers urself. Im not just going by what i've seen myself in my own home but from selling these tv's, other items. from seeing them come back for issues. from dealing with people calling in asking what the hell is wrong with their stuff. |

Well, actually I worked for a Best Buy service center for 8 years up until July of this year, so I could tell you a few statistics as well, but I won't. All I'm saying is that negative factors regarding Philips as a brand are always blown out of proportion here in the U.S. |

wouldnt be suprised if something like that were to occur. ford focus in us = trash or worse actually ford focus in EU = pretty damn nice car. But i dont think phillips negative reputation came from anywhere but their own products. |

Once again not true. In Europe they're considered to be an elite electronics manufacturer, as well they should be. They never had a bad reputation there. It is the people's perception of them here in the U.S. that's helped degrade their name and not "bad quality" products as you say they produce.

To make it worth your while, I would wait if need be to up the dollar amount on your HD TV purchase. You will be much happier in the long run getting larger screen and quality set. I purchased the new JVC 70" 1080p. Amazon has a price of $3500.00.
