Ps3 controller 2.76 update????

So last night I played mlb the show 09 controller worked fine then today I did that 2.76 update went to start playing my franchise again only to find every time I tried to load the season/ settings (when the black screen comes up with your saved files) it would either lock up or take forever to finally get some responsiveness out of the controller. If I managed to make it into my saved game and go to the calender where it shows the upcoming games it would go VERY fast and just scroll through every team in the league.

So I reformatted the HDD thought maybe I corrupted the files. Well it started again, then I thought I should try another game. Well now on killzone 2 if I click the ps button it locks up or is unresponsive but if I go to close the XMB it responds right away the menu seems responsive and the main XMB is aswell lost one franchise over this. Any Ideas?????


*edit now the main xmb after quitting a game becomes unresponsive.

one of my controllers has stopped working... i thought it was due to its age.

yeah thats my next plan to go to bestbuy and I guess they don't make the sixaxis ones anymore so I have to drop 54 on a duel shock one.

after updating my r2 trigger wouldnt activate my v.a.t.s. mode i had to turn off the controller and reassign it to get to work right again

I guess i'm fortunate. I updated and have watched 3 movies so far, haven't played any of my games yet but I haven't noticed anything abnormal so far.

yeah I just tried no luck it seems to only really freak out like with the fast moving selecting/ in ability to pick a game in the schedule in the franchise... I just did a quick game and it seems fine I have no clue what is going on

Have you tried resetting the controller itself?

I think I got it... Apparently whatever idiot made the patch for this game tweaked something that caused all prior patch saved games, franchises exc. to not work after the patch... It still wouldn't explain why I can't make a new franchise post patch and am still getting the issue.

EdiT: I just tried resetting it with that tiny hole on the back no luck either soooooo I guess I'll do a full full reformat 3 hrs ...

well one bright spot if it doesn't work after the full restore at least I narrowed down the problem to

Mine controlllers worked fine after update, updated yesterday and W@w,Rag Doll Kung Fu,GTA4,and motorstorm all worked fine, and controllers were fine as well

Fallout 3 has always done this on and off. If you've never experienced it before I'd say you just got exceedingly lucky.

yeah I figure its got to be the controller now I just finished the reformat didn't install the patch just went right to try and start a franchise and as soon as it asked me my fav team and to enter a profile name it locked up in the black save screen.

so its not the update and since we have more then one ps3 I tried our other copy of MLB the show and it did the same thing sooo that should eliminate the game as a cause ....

these controllers... I still have the NES ones and they work great... 3 year old controller and it goes up.

Dualshock controllers also have Sixaxis on them just the Sixaxis is not sold seperately anymore unless you find a used one that is.

The new Wolverine game worked fine before the update, then after the update I'm getting a frozen game as soon as I put the disc in. (i'm in the process of deleting game data-- not saves, and going to attempt a reinstall)

We should report all malfunctions due to this update to Sony. I reported Wolverine, thinking it was just me. If things are bad all over, we must get them to fix this soon and not months from now.

Bad update.

after the update i was playing a good 8 hrs afterwards and still nothing happened

yeah it didn't have to do with any updates or patches I probably deleted my franchise when it was working fine I tried the controller on our other ps3 and first I tried one of the controllers my brother ripped the buttons off and it worked no problems with the game then I reset my controller and plugged it in and boom same thing ...

Im more sad about losing the franchise then having to pay 60 for a controller lol

My controller lost sync to the sytem after the update. I had to reset the controller, and thankfully it linked back up. Sorry to hear about the controller and the fact you have to throw down $60 for a new one, I wasn't to thrilled when I thought I was going to have to replace my remote..

i have watched several movies and played 7 demos and 2 ps3 games since the update and have experienced no problems... sorry for those that have =(
