Anyone else see this premier last night?

Kinda cheesy, but surprisingly it drew me in. I have a feeling this show will do well for two reasons:

1. The proven success of the High School Musical franchise, which is pretty much what GLEE is: a TV show about high school kids who sing.
2. Ryan Murphy: an amazingly talented writer/creater/producer

But it's on FOX, so will probably be cancelled...

I watched it and thought it was decent. Fox is trying an interesting strategy by premiering the pilot last night and then no more new episodes until the fall. It is certainly different but I think it will be fairly successful because, as Purple said, Ryan Murphy has done some very good shows. It got decent ratings last night with 10.75 million but that was a large drop-off from American Idol's lead-in.

I think after all that singing on American Idol some people had to change the channel.

I wish I had seen it but I was watching The Mentalist instead, which was a pretty good season finale. I'm pretty mad that I missed it because it looked pretty intriguing by the previews. Even though I hate High School Musical, I might end up enjoying this because it is a bit different in some aspects.

They will show it again in the fall before they start showing new episodes, and it was available for free on Itunes (not sure if it still is, but it was yesterday). While there are some similarities to High School Musical (singing, jock balancing sports/singing) they are not at all the same. Glee is much more mature and the main character is an adult.

Very much agree. Geared towards much more mature audiences than the Disney Channel. I have a feeling this show is going to deal with some pretty heavy issues (like any teen drama), but be able able to ligten it up with singing and comedic aspects. It's hard to pull off that successful combination, so we'll see what happens.

I was surprised that I liked it. A little quirky but feel good episode. Loved the 80s music and glad younger generations are being more exposed to that era of music too!

Anyone catch the season opener Wed night? Not as good as the pilot, but still I think the show has potential. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

My wife and I watched the Pilot and Wednesday's show. We really enjoyed them both. Some of the raunch was so good I will return for more. The cheerleader coach is hilarious and diabolical. The eighties music had me laughing. Good fun.

I wish what happened in HSM and Glee would happen when I first step in to high school; everyone sings a musical number once you go in.

I agree I like the coach. She is really acting "Masculine" which makes it even more funny. The actor is also the therapist that Charlie visits on 2 1/2 men.

You've obviously never seen Glee to be grouping it with HSM. It's not a "musical." It's a comedy/drama about a group of kids that can sing. They don't just bust out in sing-song.

How about you know what you're talking about before you post and .

This show overall is nice entertainment as compared to the rest of the garbage on TV.

Some parts are quirky but I like different.

Glee has become the first new show of the season to receive a full season pickup. Not a big surprise as ratings have been strong and it's produced by Fox, although I'm a little surprised they didn't wait a few more weeks to see how it performs against all new programming from the other networks.

Awesome last night! What a twist! I never would have thought it was his best friend to sleep with her.

I really really hate his wife. What a *&*(^%!!!!

Looks like the football team needs to join the Glee club now.

This is one helluva show.

Just watched last night's ep on hulu. Too much single ladies, but good ep

His friend definitely seems like the kind of guy to do that, but that's fine because just like the teacher, they're building outs of those bad relationships to get them with better matches

Yes, we cane
