Regardless, I'm concerned that if that's the case Warner might just dump the existing transfer onto a 4K disc and be done with it. And much like all of you, I want to see certain things addressed like the saul bass logo being re-instated and the color timing being fixed.
If WB already had an existing 4K HDR master, it would already be streaming on iTunes and such.

Even if the Blu was a 4K scan of the O-Neg, it wouldn’t have been a native 4K restoration, otherwise we’d have seen it on streaming by now.

I can’t think of a single time when WB has taken an old existing master and dumped it onto 4K Blu-ray. They’re bankrolling brand new restorations for these releases.

Nice! Just what I want to hear.

I've picked up a handful of WB 4K releases over the last couple years, but not too many so wasn't 100% sure what there practices are.

Still waiting for a pre-order... there is an uncomfortable gap between Kino's Mad Max and Fury Road on my shelf.

if that new box set doesn't include Fury Road Black and Chrome in 4k it's useless.

Black and Chrome is an entirely different and great experience. It's puzzling why it doesn't have a physical 4k release. I am happy to have it all on the blu ray though

I still hope they go the extra mile and add the Road War documentary to the disc.

That's my hope! All they would have to do is reprint the bonus disc from the High-Octane box set to include it.

But... seeing as it's Warner, I'm not holding my breath

These artworks showed up on a Canadian site that supplies retailers. I find it strange that there is no 4K UHD banner on top, so I'm not sure if these are the official artworks. Having said that, when this site use temp artwork they usually don't use such low res pictures. As the release date is listed as November 2, I guess we will know soon enough.

And by extension, should the 4K fix this too?
Warner released the sequels in most places while Roadshow handled them theatrically in Australia. For Mad Max II, there were three versions, Australian theatrical, European/UK theatrical, and the US R-Rated "The Road Warrior" version cut for violence. The Aussie version (which came out first) and Euro cuts are very similar, but the Euro/UK cut trims a few shots for pacing reasons and most noticeably, Pappagallo's speech is shortened. Oddly enough, some PAL VHS releases are of the uncut Australian version and the R-Rated and TV versions of the Road Warrior cut also have the full speech.

The current HD master is at least 20 years old and despite being labeled as R-rated marketed under The Road Warrior title, is actually from an IP of the Euro cut with the "Mad Max II" card (which explains the missing Pappagallo footage and more violent content us Americans never saw before). Warner worked from the OCN (which should be fully uncut) for the new 4k HDR restoration, so it will probably have the full Pappagallo scene, Mad Max II title card, and the original WB Saul Bass logo.

Thunderdome has one of the best posters ever drawn for me, but I don't care as long as it comes out.

I still think not having Mel Gibson as Max in Fury Road was a huge mistake.
