As for comparing it to Aliens. Yeah... no. Sorry, not a chance in hell.

Without Bale sticking his nose in, the film probably would be been much better.

Comparing it to the two crap Matrix films is right on the money. Hopefully T5 is terminated.

Maybe they can come back to it without McG and especially without "Batman Growl" Bale.
Bale was "okay"...Its poor direction that made this movie fail...

REVIEW:

SPOILER**

I just came home a few hours ago from watching this film....Sadly, I was disappointed. It was terrible. Sam Worthington was great...the rest of the cast was meh... I fail to understand how Connor's wife has time for all that make up in the middle of all this war and chaos.....Danny Elfman's score was sadly dull...very dull...It didnt have that gritty feeling and Erie feeling. Having a T-800 modeled as Arnold was just stupid and pointless..It didnt make the film any stronger...it only made it seem like it knows it will always be the leftover juice from T1 and T2...

There were couple of good idea's here and there...The world seemed like it was really in chaos... Skynet robots in water, air, land, harvester's just grabbing humans and motorcycles patrolling the streets...it had the potential to be haunting...but in the end it wasn't executed right.

oh, the visuals and Action Scenes were great

The plot had some really "WTF..thats it" moments...They took the easy way.

Overall the movie was
5/10

Do you feel differently now that you've seen it? I always cringed looking at the future shots in the first two movies. Loved the style McG brought.

I think he stepped into the world of 'overrated' by showing that for these types of movies, he really only has one voice, one way of acting. It was the same character as batman, hell it was the same character as Reign of Fire.
But that's the thing. even though there was no time travel, it still ended up being a 'protector' movie. It was Conner that needed the protecting once again culminating in
[Show spoiler]the ultimate sacrifice (or was it )
The best thing about it was that they were not that obvious.

As far as Bale's voice (I see a lot of complaints about this). He's Bale. Harrison Ford sounds like Harrison Ford. Tom Hanks sounds like Tom Hanks. Sam Worthington sounds like Sam Worthington. I swear, sometimes the gripes I read about on this board just make me chuckle.

Loved the sounds in this movie Specially that sound.

My other complaint is while action certainitly was not lacking, I wanted to see more man vs t-600/t800s. I had a vision of a civil war type stand off with them facing off againts other, just a plain flat out massacre.
McG has already stated that there's 30 minutes of deleted scenes to be as a bonus feature on the blu-ray. I would imagine if the movie does well enough they may insert some back into the movie. Now that I've seen it I think the movie would have benefited from the
[Show spoiler]love scene between Worthington and Bloodgood. It would've given the audience more understanding to the motivation she has to help him escape.

It was so set up I could puke...but instead I just gave it one of these:
[Show spoiler]The Arnold scene was terrific. I kept expecting not to see him until around the time travel parts. It's good that he's introduced now, after all they have to become prevalent enough for Conner to capture one and reprogram him in the future. What amazed me was how much he looked like the T1 Terminator. Amazing how his face looked.

Oh come ON!!!!!!!!

Have you never seen American Psycho? The Prestige?

Hell...ANY movie he's done besides the Batman movies? Christian's voice is Christian's voice. And it ain't that raspy growl from the Batman (and now Terminator) movies.

I don't understand. When he yelled he sounded like Christian Bale yelling. When he spoke as a guy who's always having to yell (because, you know, he's in a war and all) that has a raspy voice from yelling all the time. He had his normal voice when he

Don't be silly. He sounds like he does in his interviews for the movie. His voice is aging just as he is. The thing that bothers me the most is the lisp.

I guess everyone's minds eye sees things differently. I didn't get that at all from it. It sounded like Gears struggling, wincing, grinding, changing direction. Interesting that machines building things wouldn't worry about something performing quietly like we do today with our cars for example.

i agree with just about everything you said

especially the bale voice thing
his voice he made for batman while in the suit may not have been what everyone thought was "cool" or "good" but i didn't hate it, a few times he sounded king of funny/bad but that was when the character was out of breath and you have to keep in mind its not bruce waynes real voice so of course it would sound off when he's out of breath and still trying to make a fake voice

I would agree with that. 9/10 maybe 8 (for what it was). I avoided all the spoilers and as many trailers as was possible before seeing it.

Personally I enjoyed Terminator 3 more than this. It was still enjoyable though. Overall it was good but not great.

don't worry about the pg-13 thing (if you still are)
the R would have been unnecessary for the film
if they had added alot of f-bombs for the rating it would have felt forced
come to think of it, there wasn't much profanity at all

You do realize that Bale collaborated with McG on the story. Right?
Quote:
Christian Bale as John Connor: A soldier in the Resistance waging war against Skynet after it destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust, who is destined to become humanity's leader. Director McG deemed Bale "the most credible action star in the world" during development.

McG wanted Bale for Marcus, but the actor – for reasons he "can't really remember why" – wanted to play Connor, and that led to the character's role getting expanded in rewrites of the script. Bale was the first person to be cast and signed on for the role in November 2007. McG talked extensively with Bale in the UK about the role while the latter was filming The Dark Knight, and they both agreed to proceed.

Although a fan of the Terminator series, he was at first uninterested, until McG convinced him the story would be character-based and not rely on special effects. They kept working on the story every day, along with Worthington. McG said Bale broke his hand punching a Terminator prop during filming. Bale also spent six to eight hours each day with McG in the editing room to advise the finished product.
Again, if he wouldn't have butted his nose into everything... the film might have been better.
