23 boxes, 30 Blu-rays.
All of which were Echo Bridge releases. Yuck. |

Some of those MGM DVDs were OOP and hard to find at one point, namely Canadian Bacon and 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag but these seem to be newly pressed versions as the MGM logo is different.
I'm going to be on vacation so won't bother with this wave, but would have grabbed First Contact for a friend as we are going to do a huge Star Trek marathon of all the shows and movies next year. But they are all on streaming which he uses a lot (I don't) so not a big deal. |

I stopped by two stores at lunch time today. One had five new boxes from this wave in Electronics. Two boxes with orange stickers had a small smattering of Blu-rays in them (less than 10 total). Those were very lightly picked through. The three DVD only boxes with white labels were completely full. The vast majority of titles appeared to be from Echo Bridge (no Star Trek: First Contact copies). I grabbed a "Trick or Treat" Blu-ray.

Found Tangled and Cloverfield on bluray and a few copies of ST: Wrath of Khan and ST: The Voyage Home (much of my friend group and family are Star Trek nerds). Still on the lookout for First Contact and Vampire's Kiss but very happy with what I found at just one store.
Also grabbed Bates Motel S4 at another location earlier this week despite not having any other seasons. |

About half of the stores I went to yesterday had new movies out. I ended up picking up a few, as someone said earlier a handfull of MGM, and High Octane DVD's in this batch. Some of the blu-ray's were duplicated from the last wave.
The new upc is 828706545423, and they scan as DVD&BLU-RAY MOVIES SEPT2021(C). These are what I picked up... ![]() |

I went to Our (only) Dollar Tree Today!
They had a couple more boxes but it was 99 percent DVD. I got these: Stockholm (2018) ![]() Plus: Kid Galahad (1962) in a new unlisted 2021 package. And three of the unlisted Questar DVDs: The Best Of Red Skelton (2020) [Show spoiler] Silk Hope (1999) Winter & Christmas In America's National Parks (2014) [Show spoiler]

I went to 2 nearby DTs today, each of which got 4-6 boxes. I only spotted 2 (new to me) Blurays: Super Miss and Broken Halos. There were also several DVDs I'd never seen before, mostly Echo Bridge, Questar and MGM. Nothing like the 1-2 dozen boxes at least 1 VT and MI store got.

I sure hope these are not old repackaged pan & scan DVDs MGM couldn't get rid of, so they sold them to DT and put new artwork purposefully leaving off the aspect ratio to trick us. I'm not saying they are, but when any movie doesn't list aspect ratio/sound info, I immediately get suspicious someone is trying to hide pan & scan. IIRC, MVD DVDs don't list it either. I know we've all debated this before, and I don't think anyone is sure, but my memory is a couple people said this new artwork gets printed in the DT warehouses and that studios are not actually pressing new discs specifically to be sold to DT at $1 because that would be a money loser. IIRC, I thought people have said that even a large batch of DVDs costs at least $1 per unit to make, including the packaging. |

Had to do some shopping, so swung by 4 stores today. Absolutely nothing of note on the Blu-Ray front other than the Spanish version of "Run All Night" (Una Noche Para Sobrevivir) with slipcover, so I snagged it.
[Show spoiler] The CD shippers on the other hand had quite a few interesting titles worth taking a flyer on, including a couple of heavier rock/heavy metal titles... not your typical pop/rap/r&b crap. |
