It was hard to pick between Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MGS4, and inFamous. I ended up leaving R2 out because it's a shooter like KZ2. MGS4 and inFamous are different so you'll have a nice collection of different games.

Um, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune comes with the Drake's PS3 bundle...
My personal favorite PS3 title is Valkyria Chronicles, but it's a strategy RPG/action game, not a FPS or a traditional action/adventure game. It's also a PS3 exclusive. |

Well, I've gone and ordered KZ2, inFamous, MGS4, and Resistance 2....
Got everything in the cart, and just couldn't resist not adding MSG4. I was originally turned off to the game after reading a review that said it had hours upon hours of cutscenes, but I couldn't pass it up... I foresee many busy weekends ahead! |

A hybrid of your list and my own input...
-MGS4 hands down -if you like shooters pick Resistance 2 or Killzone 2...this comes down to which franchise you prefer. if you aren't a hardcore shooter fan consider inFamous. -For your third, go with a non-commercially hyped game. It's best to take a chance every once in a while and discover a sleeper hit. When you find them, they're more satisfying than big-budget blockbuster multi-million dollar ad-campaign games. I suggest "Valkyria Chronicles". I'd eventually get Uncharted. I thought that was the first truly great exclusive released for the PS3. Pass up Resident Evil 5 unless you're a die hard fan, like me. It's a fun game but the worst in the main series. Feels more like COD crossbred with Uncharted than a RE or zombie game. I don't think it would be worth someones time if they haven't played the other games. Pass up Fallout 3 too. I also feel this is a great game but there were things like the level cap that unjustified the 100 hours I sank into it. I hit the cap at 50 hours, that was an additional 50 hours I put into it with no level progress...If you feel like playing Fallout buy the original cheap for the PC, it's the best in the series and one of the greatest games of all-time. Fallout 3 is more like Oblivion than the original franchise any way. GTA4 is also a good game that in the end wasn't completely worth it. Just felt like the same missions I've beaten many times over the past decade. Again, take a chance with some less-hyped commercialized games. These aforementioned games were bloated in the media, critics and "professional" reviewers. Last edited by henry_the_horse; 05-25-2009 at 07:33 PM. |

Since I have the 360, choosing which games to go with was a lot easier...
For example, I have Fallout 3, COD4, CODWAW, and Res5 for the 360, so I didn't see the logic in doubling up.. However, looking ahead, I will be getting Batman Arkham, but will flip my pre-order to the PS3 version since it has exclusive content that the 360 will not have. Same goes for Bioshock.. Never played it on the 360, never will... That will also be a PS3 buy for me... The big decision is going to come on when Modern Warfare 2 comes out... I have 12 good friends on Live that I play with consistently, be it COD4 or 5, RB6 1 or 2. We'll have to see, I guess that will be a purchase time decision. |

How is UFC???
I downloaded the demo for the 360 and found it enjoyable, but somewhat unintuitive... Half the time I would land a punch, and it wouldn't register, or I'd miss and it would register as a hit... Just seemed off... Maybe I'll get I'll download the demo on the PSN once I get everything setup. |

If you only want to spend about $180, instead of 3 regular-priced games, I'd recommend 2 regular games, a greatest hits game($20-$30), and a few PSN games. There are SO many fun, surprising PSN games out there to discover! But first, download lots and LOTS of demos and/or get a 1-month Gamefly trial.
Even if you're usually a shooter kinda guy, check out Little Big Planet, you won't be able to stop smiling for weeks! |
