Number one, I believe the 'editor's cut' of 3 is on these discs. So it's a recut version of 3, that reviewers seem to say is a wash whether it's better or not. But something new to watch.

I think 3 would at least be fun to rewatch certain action scenes. Like you, I saw it once in the theater and never again yet. I would say I liked a lot of it at the time, while being disappointed in some aspects. But watching these movieclips scenes on Fandango is fun. The problem might be when watching it all at once, the pacing is problematic.

Given these were reviewed in 2017, how is the quality on these? Does the 4k still hold up? Native 4k or just upscaled?
I bought the Blu-ray set just before getting into UHD. I was reluctant to purchase this, as I’ve heard the opinion that Spidey 1’s HDR grade is too Sony Light-Canon and some people prefer the look of the SDR mastered in 4K Blu-ray. And then Spidey 3 I prefer the editors cut which is still standard Blu-ray only. So that leaves 2, the clear upgrade, but I just ended up getting it digitally in 4K and keeping the Blu-ray for the 2.1 version.

If I’m totally wrong on this take of 1 It’d probably be easy to talk me into getting the set for 30 though.

I just checked amazon and it says "In Stock Soon" Order it now. I noticed in reviews for the 4K versions of each movie it says Mastered in 4K. Are they worth it?

That Star Wars gif is hilarious even though I will defend the pimp Maguire stuff until the day I die.

Already had my budget for movies set for this month (mostly pre-orders from Amazon), but, like a lot of you, I just couldn't resist that price!

Was planning to get it down the line eventually, so I ordered it this morning while it's cheap.

Filmouts? Wut?

First movie had a partial DI but was ultimately finished out to film. Second movie was the first ever 4K DI. Third one also got a 4K DI.

I watched 3 without knowing the backlash and loved the pimp/goth scene. Anyone that's actually followed Spider-Man knows that a scene like that is straight out of the comics.

Just because things come out from the pages doesn’t give it a pass. Things in comics can suck as well.

Actually that's straight out of the 90's cartoon. Back when the black costume was first introduced it fatigued Peter and made him question the suit after wearing it for a while. I stopped reading comics years ago so you may be talking about reboot story lines. Otherwise your statement is false.

I never hated Spider-Man 3 tbh. But I’m also not a comic-follower at all if that makes any difference lol. I rewatched it about a month ago for the first time since theaters and I honestly thought it was fine. Not great but not terrible. I do wish that the studio hadn’t interfered as much because it could’ve been great! There’s just honestly so much going on in it that none of the resolutions really feel meaningful.

Also, I wish that this set was released in a regular 7-disc case. The digipack is cool and all but it’s kind of flimsy too and obviously doesn’t fit too well on the shelf with anything really (right now I just have it sitting next to the Infinity Saga). A slipbox, at least, probably would’ve helped.

I read the comics for ten years into the early '90s through the black costume and Venom sagas and never saw anything with Peter dancing or going "goth." That was Raimi humor, but I always thought it was pretty funny. My main problem with the movie is retroactively making Sandman Uncle Ben's killer, and then having Spidey "forgive" him. That's way too touchy-feely, like the ending of Ghostbusters 2 were the crowd sings to defeat Vigo. So are we supposed to think it was wrong when Spidey hunted down Ben's killer to punish him in the first movie? Should he have forgiven him instead? I don't think so.
