I find it to be much more soothing and less strain on my eyes to watch TV/movies or play games with the lights on. I always leave them set on white for this.

I have a color organ kit that I've used to flash lights to music. I plug an mp3 player directly to it instead of a mic. You could have one color organ per audio channel and use analog cables to run the lights. I don't think it would be too hard.
If you figure it out and get some made, I would be glad to be your first customer.

That guy should go into business selling those. We'd all be like "Cyron who?" if those were available.

The plan on the first website I linked on how to make it is basically only for the actual controller. That wouldn't cost much to make but I think you could get away with selling it for around $30 a pop. The lighting is not included , however. That would have to be supplied elsewhere... That is a good idea though. All you would need to do is hook up your current LED light bars and whatever else needed to get it working and you're good to go.

I did some researching on this project and I found something. The guy had his project featured in the Elektor magazine. I did a quick search on their site and they offer the PCB and both microchips for sale, already programmed. They also have instructions to building it and list the materials you will need. Problem is that it's $100 for the PCB and programmed microchips. Then you have to buy the various other electrical components and lightbars if you don't already have some. And it uses SCART, a European standard in audio/video connectors. I'm not sure how you would go about plugging the yellow composite video and RGB component video cables into this. Good news is that you should be able to use existing Cyron lightbars.

Great find tlmaclennan. I would invest in these as well if they ever get marketed. The fact that they look like they would work with my existing Cyron lights makes it even better.

I drove lol. I had just got out of work and had nothing to do, my girlfriend was working as well so I said what the hell I'll take the trip. I bought two packs of them and if you are afraid the lights might not be bright/long enough like me I suggest buying two packs (they come in packs of four). So you get 8 lights total. I put two side by side on the top and bottom of my tv, one on each side, and another one on both my tower speakers.

Installed my Cyron Pro lightbars and the HTW1000 IR controller over the weekend.

Install was easy, and the effect is great. The IR controller is really cool. Lots of fun patterns and the ability to change color with music.

Hope to have some pictures up tonight...

Congrats....yes, please provide pics. I don't have the controller, but I still enjoy my lights all the same.

A few questions regarding the diodes.

Are they bright enough to put all 4 behind a tv? Or would it be overkill?

Can you pick specific colors (white) or do they go through a set of colors?

See, what I'm looking to do is to see if I can put those 4 diodes behind my LCD that's wall mounted, and attach the diodes to the mount rather than the tv. Not to mention, keep the diodes at white, for the most part. So I want to know if that's overkill with the 4 behind the tv or not.

I have two on each side of my TV, connected together - so technically, all four, but just vertically. Look at the following and decide for yourself:

They have three settings. One color stationary, go through all colors quickly, or go through all colors slowly.

They have:

White, Purple, Red, Green, Yellow, Light Blue, Blue.

I have two packs total, two 10" bars on each speaker and on each side of the TV.

You used the Cryon lights, right JJ? Not the Ikea lights. Just for clarification.
