I was looking at some pictures of peoples HT's and was wondering what kind of LED lights I could/should pick up to add to my HT. Also where I should buy them would help too lol. Thanks

I have them and they are from Cyron if it is the colored lights you see and like. They can be a bit pricey and I bought mine from Amazon. I attached the link below for the 2 LED Lightbar set as the 6 LED Lightbar set is unavailable and out of stock?? From Cyron's own website, I no longer see the 6 LED Lightbar set either, so I'm not sure why. However, if you want more than 2, you can buy another set of the 2 LED lightbars only seperately to make your set-up for 4 or even more up to 8 I believe. The 2 Lightbar set goes for 79.99 on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Lightbar-Media...1449093&sr=8-1.

If you are interested in the company Cyron itself, I attached their website below.

You can often find the 6 packs on Ebay. That's where I got mine. Just search for Cyron on Ebay.

Try IKEA, seems like alot of other members use them as well and they are cheaper, but the bulbs should be at least 6500K.

Below is an excerpt from an articles as to why they should at least be 6500K:

Quote from Cinemaquest site:

Ambient lighting should be of the correct color, as close as possible to CIE D65 (D6500 Kelvins). This specification for white light is more toward the blue end of the visual spectrum, to simulate average north sky daylight at midday. D65 is the reference white point used in correctly calibrated video displays. Typical residential incandescent lighting is much more yellow/red in spectrum and will skew or distort human color perception in a video viewing environment. The most common source for D6500K lighting is full-spectrum fluorescent lamps.

Yes, that is true that ambient light should be at least 6500K. For those of you with ambient backlights do you actually have your lights set that way when you watch films though? All the gallery photos I see show deep neon blues, greens, or reds, but I haven't seen any actually set at 6500k white light. Does anyone have gallery photos showing that? I'm just curious, and would like to see some photos with the ambient light theory in play.

IKEA has the dioders for $50. I personally did not like them but many members have those here. They look great in pictures, I just personally thought they were not bright nor worth the money.

EDIT: Beat me to it.

This is true. Ambient lighting for movie watching should be 6500K. Except in my case, all the lights are off for movie watching. I have the lights on only for show/music/people over/pre-gaming/my own amusement. During movies the room is pitch black. And I don't need to boost my TVs black levels by putting white behind it,

Installed my Cyron Pro lightbars and the HTW1000 IR controller over the weekend.

Install was easy, and the effect is great. The IR controller is really cool. Lots of fun patterns and the ability to change color with music.

Hope to have some pictures up tonight...

Congrats....yes, please provide pics. I don't have the controller, but I still enjoy my lights all the same.

Ask and you shall receive...

I really love these things. It was very easy to make them work with my Harmony activities. Now, any activity that uses the TV also turns on the back lights to their D65 White setting. The controller is really cool. Allows for complete customization of color and dimming functions. Has a sleep timer, and several built in light shows including one that responds to sound. My only complaint is that the IR eye could be a little more sensitive. It misses about 1 out of 10 commands I throw at it.

A few pics of the install...

I ran the light cords behind the wall using the same channel as my HDMI cable. Instead of cutting a separate hole, I just dremeled out a small piece of the HDMI wall plate cover and fed the wires through there. The controller itself is much smaller than how it looks on the Cyron website. I was expecting something about the size of a Blu-Ray case, but it's only about half that size.

Super easy...

Very nice indeed. I have to look into the controller as I too would like my harmony remote to control the lights when I start an activity. Good idea with the wiring, no need to make more holes and stuff.

Default Ikea led light strips

I just bought the IKEA Dioder LED light strips. The color changing ones. My question is, when I put the color wheel all the way to white, the lights stay on for about 2 minutes, then shut off for 10 seconds, then come back on for 1 minute and the turn off for 10 seconds, etc etc. Does anyone else have this issue? I called IKEA and they said they did not know. This only happens on the "white" setting. All of the other colors seem just fine. I am not sure if this is a overheating protection or what exactly? I bought 2 separate packs and both do this. That is why I assume its not just a defective box. Also, what location on the color wheel is closest to 6500k or the best to watch movies on. Thank you everyone.

This does not happen to mine. I also purchased mine from Ikea. I would personally return and/or exchange them.

How many Light Strips do you have hooked up to yours. I have 8 strips (2 boxes)...hooked up to one control. Is that too many?

I bought/ordered this the other day to replace my Ikea dioders.

The Cyron kit includes an HTW1000 controller + 2 twin packs of HTPB24" pro lights + 1 twin pack of HTPB15" pro's + power supply and all accessories. I'm still going to use my Ikea dioders, just in a different spot.
