Every time I stop to look at movies my girlfriend looks at the books. We're a big physical media house. Lots of blu-rays and lots of books. Just like how I refuse to go digital, so does she.

If you use Mint Mobile, you could rationalize a decent deal for Free Guy 4k.

https://www.target.com/pl/987936096

Only the 3 month 4GB/month for $45 seems deal worthy.

Because if you’re going to put something on sale you should have it in stock and on the floor especially if you’ve put in your advertisement.

Yep, my Target also went to a single half-aisle for movies, but they still had the 4-sided New Releases endcap, and an endcap at the registers (where I found my Free Guy Exclusive this morning). Thankfully, being friendly with the Electronics employees helps, as they're more willing to find stuff.

I was also looking for Carlito's Way 4K & Inglourious Basterds 4K, and the nice guy who stocks media said "Oh Yeah, we put 4Ks there" (pointing to the bottom-left corner of the aisle, near the back). "That's where you'll find them now."

I wish I could've taken a pic, but he was stocking books in the same aisle.

That’s exactly how all the Targets around me look now.

I totally agree with that. I never looked at the print ad, so I don't know what titles they should have. But as you see continually posted here, Target has been extremely downsizing their movie section, so there's really no reason to have an expectation that they'll have much available in store. When Target shows you that they want you to buy movies online instead, believe them.

If they thought movies were a unique product they were interested in marketing, they wouldn't show me this every single time I search for movies. I could barely get myself to buy this once, so why would I buy it again??

I wish they would do a sale on the 4K. I remember getting Chaos Walking for around that price soon after it came out.

While I appreciate this point, at this stage, I can't blame Target, or any other big box retailer, for downsizing or outright eliminating their physical media sections. The fact is people just aren't buying this stuff (we here on this site are a small group), so stores see no reason to waste shelf space.

I'm just thankful stores are still maintaining some deep catalogs. At least we have the ability to buy these titles online. That too, sadly, will probably get harder in time (and with it fewer sales) but at least we have it right now.

What percentage of these titles are dropshipped?

Book Stop or Books R US sounds like a good rebranding name for Target.

Target's "Barnes & Noble" Annex

Now that I think about it, that's horrific.

Target's new motto is "If you like books target is the place.

if you like movies you're sh*t outta luck.

But we have some books based on movies though"

This sounds about right; like when someone asks if they have "The Shining" on 4K.

You know I'm surprised sometimes when people know what 4k is. Cause most think its the same as BD or even a DVD.

My dad would be like what's the matter. isn't it all the same anyway. Or can you really tell a difference?

People get 4K TVs and UHD players because it's the newest/hottest thing, and looks/sounds cool. Most likely never use those "high-end electronics" to their full potential, or even know how...

They're happy streaming a free TV show like "The Blacklist" on Netflix and say "it's in 4K," rather than spending any money on a physical 4K release of a beautiful film like "The Green Knight."

Last edited by strumdogg; 10-13-2021 at 04:35 AM. Reason: Watch "The Green Knight" regardless of format. :)
