I'm noticing his views seem to have taken a tumble. Unbreakable only just got over 5 thousand in 24 hours.

The UHD-BD has incorrect levels and/or raised black levels starting with the very first frame while the BD had perfect blacks throughout. So how exactly is this "clearly deeper blacks" when it's literally the opposite? lmao
Funny you mention it. When I watched mine I thought the black level was very lifted. However, I couldn't remember if it was that way with the bluray as well, but I don't have time for comparison much these days so I just gave it a pass. Reading that bit in the review raised an eyebrow for sure.

And you know what? If you play a 2K DI and a native 4K movie side by side, the majority wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I've seen some 2K DI movies on 4K UHD that looked stunning just like a native 4K image.

Yes and if you're too far away you can't even see the 4k pixilins.

Whipped a 4K* sharpness adjustment for a reviewer centuries ago, you could basically not see 4ooo checkers and barely 4000 lines or maniacs from 2PH distance, you had to be at more like 1.5PH. 2ooo lines or whatever from 2PH distance were kind of ok, as the 2K* pic to check your 1080p TV 1:1 pixel mode that I've posted a few times is easier to see the checkers/lines but still not as easy as you think.

*discs formats are really 3.75K and 1.875K

I'm so glad that I read the official review and comments here before seeing those negative Amazon reviews; otherwise I might've passed on the UHD-BD. Are they just FAH, et al. sheep? That's why I'm so thankful to this site and the reviewers. Part of my daily morning routine is to check the latest 4K reviews.

I was referring more to FAH & HD Movie Source than Amazon reviews. Those people are really uninformed.

The Fraud At Home has caused some significant damage. In fairness his display and source where probably pulling down the nits (someone give a technical explanation of that). But this is what happens though when by hook or by crook (I'm going with crook) you become the main content for the mindless consumer element to get their opinion from. You eventually in your own lazy ignorance will say something that has massive consequences.

I'm pretty confident though we here (posters and luckers) are the true majority in this game.

Some people consistently frequenting this board will out of nowhere selectively claim that title X deserves or needs a 4K rebuild to be good quality releases.

It's slightly annoying since it's how many years being said over and over in this section why it wouldn't happen for most movies; and they have had nothing to say about it with Moon and other titles from similar era, and oh idk all the 2K DI even to this VERY DAY the industry is upscaling on this format -- Like someone pointed out -- Most Marvel movies are upscales and many are reference PQ, some aren't.

The fact IB isn't has nothing to do with inherent technology or not investing enough money or anything like that, but all the factors at play from shooting choices to post-production that would knock a couple PQ points off a title.

The guy that didn't want burned in subs will be happy, as the UK and Euro releases are player generated. All titles are also player generated.

To give Universal some credit, they've attempted to match the colour and font of the theatrical subs, as much as possible.

These are all player generated:

These larger titles are not player generated:

So, I opened my CE yesterday only to find it has what appeared to be a "slash" across the front of it. In fairness to Zavvi (so far), they've quickly sent me a return form for a replacement.

But as this is sold out .... gutted.

edit: On closer inspection there were no playing cards enclosed, just the art cards. Is this just me? feeling like I'm being picked on lol

That's Universal, so no wonder. The US disc, here I come!

Player-generated titles that don't remotely match the original ones. The US disc was unaffected, though.
