This was a book first, and a quite successful one. I only wish that I was the genius who decided to make movies out of the book series, because they and "hollywood" are going to be laughing all the way to the bank. If every person who read the books (millions of people) goes to see the films, then they will for sure be successful, and as time goes on, there will only be more people who jump on the bandwagon.

Well, yes and no.

If the movie is universally despised by the original fans like it was with Blood and Chocolate, you could have issues with the laughing... and the bank...

Why would people think this movie will not be successful? It has an entire generation already built in as an audience. When a film's trailer is a hot topic of discussion you know it has a following.

I read the books, I enjoyed them, personally i have to say twilight was a disappointment to begin with just like the 1st harry potter. I just don't think that movies based on books are better.

Wifey made me watch the trailer. Even she laughed at the piss-poor wolf transformation at the end.

I expect this movie to be just as good as the first - take that however you want.

And to 'Blood and Chocolate' - didn't they severely change the story from the book? Do they really expect fans of the book to be pleased when they do that?

Twilight, however, I feel suffers from trying to stay too close to the books.

My wife and I thought the effect was cool. People are going to complain about something - the effects are bad, it's not like the book, it's too much like the book ... give me a break - I wish people would just go to the movies to have fun.

Usually I would agree, however sometimes the movies are better, (eg: Fight Club of which the author actually stated he was embarrased by his book in comparison to the film). Other possibilities, Blade Runner, Minority Report, V for Vendetta etc). Though usually the book is better (imo largely as it was written for that media and 'translating' it usually results in more bieng lost then was gained).

That's a poor excuse (and circular thinking), the transformation was not well done (if you liked it however good for you, but it wasn't very seemless) though it no doubt still has a lot of work to be done on it. However, it is fair to say that if the rest of the film is good, some bad effects wont significantly affect your enjoyement of the film.

Wait.

You mean that Underworld movie wasn't original?

House of Dracula did it first...?

You're kidding.

Really?

In 1945 it was done before, who would have ever thought Vampires vs Werewolves... wow... I thought it was totally original with the bird in the leather getup.

i never said underworld wasn't original. yet, you did bring up a good point after all underworld was and wasn't original it was based of the Shakespearian play Romeo and Juliet. Don't get me wrong, but I think Hollywood needs to start looking to make more original flicks than based on something flicks thats all they have been doing lately and its been going on for a long time. I am thinking dog day afternoon, the silence of the lambs, the godfather, titanic, the 1st two terminators, forrest gump, star wars, 7even, snatch, gone with the wind, casablanca and such movies. those are classics and we don't see that much of them anymore

Already a sequel? Holy fast sequel Batman! One did the first one come out? Last summer? That was fast, I suppose they need to be quick about it to cash in before their fan base turn to something else

If you think that's fast check out the release date for the 3rd film - June 30th, 2010!

Teenage girls don't have standards when it comes to movies. You can squeeze out movies a lot faster when you know you can take a dump on some film, and it will make millions in profit.

And teenage boys have superior standards -- blood, violence, gore, ACTION, ACTION, ACTION, ACTION, oh and did I forget ACTION?

Really dude - enjoy the differences between the genders, we're not competing, that's what makes men & women beautiful.
