I’m afraid of that as well . There’s been quite a few recent films where both critics’ and audience scores are overall positive but the box office seems to imply the opposite.

This does have a small budget so hopefully that will help. Still a bit worried though.

I've seen every SCREAM movie in theaters, parts 2-4 on opening day. This one looks like the best since the original. Can't wait to check it out!

Nah, put your worries to bed. I have a feeling this is gonna do quite well. Not Halloween Kills well perhaps but it looks like a fast, fun, energetic sequel. The traditional horror fans that came out for Kills may not all come to this one but some will and younger moviegoers will as well.

I'm an old school Scream fan from the '90s and I'll be there opening night...meaning the very first showing that Thursday night.

Hope so. Will also be there opening night on Thursday though. I’m pretty excited.

I was born in the 90s so never got a chance to watch any of the first three in cinemas. But I became such a big fan in middle school and still remember later on watching Scream 4 with my friends in high school. Such an amazing experience. I still remember my stomach dropping when
[Show spoiler]Jill
pulled the mask off and it was revealed to be
[Show spoiler]her, Sidney’s cousin,
all along. That was a whole new level of personal in a slasher. And the themes of newer generations being obsessed with social media feels even more relevant now. Crazy how you can make a whole career out of it now. I don’t think the term ‘influencer’ was even a thing back then. And the line “I don’t need friends! I need fans.” takes a more solidifying meaning now. It’s so criminally underrated. Maybe the humor wasn’t as good as the first one, but it boggles my mind how lowly rated it is given it gets way more things right than it does wrong.

Also just noticed Dolby Cinema is listed at the bottom of the poster . Hopefully Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Matrix Resurrections would’ve left the premium screens by then.

You're a bit late to the game my friend. We've known for months that Stu's house is in the new film ever since they posted a set photo.

I was in high school when the original came out in '96 but didn't actually see it until it came out on VHS a few months later. A bunch of us rented it one night to check out. I LOVED IT and have seen every sequel opening night in the theater ever since. I haven't disliked any of the 4 so far but I will be rewatching 2-4 to brush up before the new one. I've only seen each of those probably 2 or 3 times over the years.

Oh lol. I’ve kind of been avoiding information as much as possible to avoid spoilers. Didn’t know that until I saw it in the poster.

Hope they use that setting well thought. It’s basically iconic now.

Need to rewatch 2-4 as well. Sucks the transfers on blu-ray for 2-3 are so terrible. They really need new ones.

Saw all four, but only remember the first two.

Part 1-3 in the cinema, 4 at home.

I remember Emma Roberts was in the fourth one as well.

That's it.

It means she has a notable role, but she isn't the lead. Which can really mean anything. Drew Barrymore was the "and" in the first movie and she was only in the first five minutes. Chris Pratt was the "and" in Avengers: Infinity War and he was one of the leads.

He was "and" because there were bigger star names given higher billing. That's not the case with Scream. The cast are all unknowns. I expect the OT will have little to do, save get killed off for a cheap thrill or pop up briefly towards the end.

Because she isn’t the lead.

[Show spoiler]She’s almost completely absent from the first half of the movie, “apparently”

That makes the movie even less appealing to me

I have not read any leaks/spoilers but it’s obvious from the trailers/featurettes how Sidney factors into this.

The new characters go to Dewey for help (sometime in the second act), then Sidney makes her first appearance when he calls to tell her what’s going on and that something about these killings is linked to their past (the scene from the trailer), then she arrives in town just in time for the 3rd act where she meets the new protagonist and then somehow gets lured to Stu’s house for the Ghostface showdown. It’s obvious by how she has the same wardrobe for those scenes in the trailer.

This tidbit was revealed in a featurette, but I’ll spoiler tag just in case:
[Show spoiler]When she gets the phone call from Dewey she’s pushing a stroller, which means she’s now a mother. So I hope the fact that she has a kid is assurance that they won’t be killing her off. It would be ****ed up enough for her to be killed off in some soft-reboot after all she’s been through, but even more ****ed up and needlessly cruel if the filmmakers go out of their way to reveal she has a new life with a family before they do it.
