Double Dipping?

One of the good things is there's less of a technical reason for double dipping with the ability to encode multiple versions of a film on the same disc.

Odds are we'll see added value in all double dips. Just like how DVD double dipped with directors editions and threw in deleted scenes as a bonus for buying the DVD over the vhs, I am expecting we'll see multiple versions on the same disc as being the boost for blu-ray over DVD with IME and eventually PiP down the road being the reason for double dipping.

As would I. That seemless branching stuff would be nice on this title too.

This was one of the first BD I bought(along with the original Fifth Element release) and I was disapointed to find out that the walmart website at the time listed the T2 BD as having BOTH versions of the film. Apparently somebody put the "Ultimate"DVD descrition up for the BD destription too. It wasn't until after I was watching the movie that I realize my mistake...I should have double checked the back. But oh well, lesson learned.

I'd buy the new one too.

it is expected, judging from watching the re-releases of DVDs.

they always find a reason. Haven't some already started? Hasn't Warner anounced a new release on an HD DVD (Troy, I think)?

Double dipping is inevitable. Just look at some of the first titles released on Blu-ray for example and tell me that there is no room for improvement. Just for that reason alone some of them will be re-released. Not to mention special versions, director's cuts, more behind the scene footage, etc.
