Why do people hate Sony?

I'm a huge Sega fanboy, but even I knew that Sega burned their bridges with CD/32x/Saturn, and there wasn't enough goodwill left to carry them with their new great system

Sony is a good company and produces a quality products. At time pricey.

I support BD, but I do not hate MS or Toshiba. paramount maybe

The main reason why people hate sony is because Sony now has a rival (MS).
I honestly dont know why people cant just enjoy all the good products that come out of these competitions .

I have been using Sony products for the last 15years and they are great products.
My 34" Grand Wega has lasted me more than 7years and never once did it give me problems. Same goes for many other sony products that i have.
I have used Sony and can say that they make top notch products that last u a life time.

Now Only if Sony could make an OS that would go parallel to Windows hehe.

I think Sega wrongly abandoned the Dreamcast so early into its development cycle. It's true potential was never realized. I still love playing mine to this day, yet at same time would not trade my PS2 for anything.

As much as I LOVE Sony, they have no Ipod...... The secret to the Ipod is in the interface (and in Itunes). Sony has no secrets, only Success.

Did u know Ipod was designed by SONY in Tokyo for Apple?????? the look, blah, interface, blah (look at SONY's so much better), and software? well again personal prefernce, I prefer Sonic Stage, I think it is much better than Itune (looks and functionality)

Sony products I have to admit are of good working quality... the reason i dislike them so is because their hidden agendas out way the goods. take for instance their root kits found on cd's, dvd's now recently found on their microvault usb memory stick and fingerprint reader . when are they going to find out that the root kits are NOT GOOD??
When are they going to realize that drm is not a good thing? they had to replace over 20 something disk recently that would not play in some dvd players and it's not like they are the smaller titles either Casino Royale, Stranger than Fiction, and Rocky Balboa to name a few.
The reason I first went with hddvd is the main reason i didn't want to go with bluray is because it is or going to be region coded when the new profiles finally go into effect. I have had to purchase 5 seperate dvd players to enjoy movies from around the world that i enjoy watching. I didn't want to have to do that again this time around but it looks as if i may if bluray keeps this momentum up.

I have owned countless Sony products and they are one of the best companies that make great, sturdy, and lasting products. I love their designs and everything Sony stands for. All of my TV's at home are Sony and will never change them for another brand maybe except Samsung.

There is some truth to that.
I'm over Dreamcast but Sony has pushed more proprietary formats down their customer's throats only to abandon them later on.
The latest was atrac.
Of course I do own quite a bit of Sony gear so I guess I don't hate them that much.
And they make the best looking LCDs out there IMO.

Just about the ONLY thing HD has left to attack Blu with nowadays is what they probably always will have:
What We Were Talking About Way Back in 2006, and hoping it still gets the same applause a year and a half later.

And back in '06, when it looked like HD was going to be some better system, Sony-bashing could always play to a disgruntled-Dreamcast balcony, and get a few cheers from Rootkit-paranoiacs.
After Blu started winning, however, and it looked like Sony might actually be putting together a product that would take hold on the marketplace, old disgruntled-techie jokes about ATRAC and "martyred" Dreamcast started becoming the Format War equivalent of protesting Hanoi Jane at the Oscars...

MiniDisk - old news
MicroMV - old news
UMD - recent
ATRAC - just last week!

So how can you blame those that for sticking with Sony no matter what, got burned again and again?
While I admit to getting stuck with a few of these, I can understand when people say they had it with Sony.


(Even as I type this, how can I convince you that I own almost a dozen Sony products and this has no bearings what so ever with my wanting to buy future Sony products and this isn't an attack on Blu? I guess it doesn't matter.)

God burned?? we dont get burned, even tho most ppl have poor judgement or being stupid, but ppl like us who understand it and can afford after all enjoyed the better tech, which is made possible by SONY, such like ATRAC, cuz most of ppl out there know nothing AT ALL, they chose MP3 for no reason at all, but still I'm laughin at them and enjoyin my better format which is ATRAC until today all my music is ATRAC if on my walkman, CD, and hell even old tape feels better than MP3 at least u have that excitment of open it up and put a tape in, while MP3 is pure garbadge!!!!

And Sony has a track record for successes too. One format that springs to mind is the co-developed with Philips CD. Still going strong. There are others too.
But I am not saying Sony is perfect, but for a company that has been around for so long, it is not surprising there have been a few hiccups on route.

Also I would like to add that VHS vs Betamax is so often giving as example but there is a big difference to the situation today. When video was introduced nobody really new how big it would be, what business models would work, etc. It was an revolution. Today with Blu vs HD DVD it is "just" an evolution of DVD.
