Yes, but only the double features that makes sense, there's nothing I hate more than what some other labels and studios decide to release as sets.

Yeah, it is a totally understandable reason, I had the same thought about no Jack Grinnage on the Kolchak bluray set too - how many 90 year olds want to sit through a commentary? But you never know, even older men like Roger Corman were liberal with interviews well into their advanced age.

God bless him, but not everyone is Corman.

We were very happy to interview John Llewellyn Moxey when he was 93, a year before he passed away. He sat in for a long interview discussing 5 of his films we were releasing.

We also interviewed composer Bob Cobert (The Night Stalker, The Night Strangler, Trilogy of Terror) when he was also 93, two years before his passing.

In your spare time, I recommend you seeking out (if you haven't already) some of the WB DVDs with a 99-year-old Vincent Sherman providing director's commentaries for titles like Mr. Skeffington, The Damned Don't Cry and The Return of Doctor X. Quite amazing how active and lucid he was toward the end.

I saw an interview with Norman Lloyd on TCM, when he was 105, I was amazed by his energy and incredible memory.

We've had directors in their 50s/60s telling us they barely remember anything about a film they directed two to three decades ago.

In one instance a director agreed to do a commentary, we booked the studio and on the day of the recording she apologized and told us, she thought she can do it, but now realizes she can't. If I remember right, she was in her 40s.

America—and the world—fell in love with Marty, the first film to win both the Best Picture Oscar and the Cannes Film Festival’s Golden Palm. “I’ve been looking for a girl every Saturday night of my life,” says Marty Piletti (Ernest Borgnine, The Vikings). Yet, despite all his efforts, this 34-year-old Bronx butcher remains as shy and uncomfortable around women today as on the day he was born. So when he meets Clara (Betsy Blair, A Delicate Balance), a lonely schoolteacher who’s just as smitten with him as he is with her, Marty’s on top of the world. But not everyone around him shares Marty’s joy. And when his friends and family continually find fault with Clara, even Marty begins to question his newfound love—until he discovers, in an extraordinary way, the strength and courage to follow his heart. Nominated for eight Academy Awards and winner of four, including Best Actor for Borgnine, Best Director for Delbert Mann (Separate Tables) and Best Screenplay for Paddy Chayefsky (Network), Marty is a masterpiece of warmhearted storytelling.

To be fair, they're both Crown International horror movies released a year apart.

Now, Scream! Factory pairing Millennium with R.O.T.O.R. on the other hand...

Part of the problem for most of the films I am interested in (and the whole reason I follow everything Kino puts out) are 40+ years old and hardly anyone is left alive.

I finally got to see Shakedown (1950) which was previously a pretty rare film, never having had a home video release, and realized that both the ladies in it, the good girl played by Peggy Dow Varnadow and the bad girl played by the French actress Anne Vernon were both still living, but at 94 and 98 years old respectively (not to mention Vernon back in France since the 1950s) it would have been too much to ask for their participation.

Were the edits due to music? Not sure why they would released an edited version of TV series otherwise.
Just to make it clear as I already posted some element information in an earlier post on the subject: IMDb reports that the elements for The Outer Limits are:

Negative format: 16mm
Cinematographic process: super 16
Printed film format: 16mm

That's for the original series for Showtime in the 1990's

As for the syndicated, edited on video: I don't about the music, other than a variation of the original theme music was used in the closing credits.

They edited out nudity and profanity, which occurred in many episodes. They made fade-outs and fade-ins for commercials. So these were then slapped onto DVD. Having the set I noticed this editing did not apply to Seasons 1 & 2.

Visual Entertainment Group released the Stargate series by the same production company and same 16mm elements (though in the later seasons, switched to 35mm) in a massive blu-ray box set in 2020. So VEG I guess is our only hope to see The Outer Limits on blu-ray.

Kino Insider - Big ask, but do you think you'll be in a position at any point to give us a by-year breakdown of the MGM deal? Even if say it was limited solely to the new-to-Blu titles in the deal? Thanks.

I corresponded with a number of living directors of the original Twilight Zone a few years back. Most would not have been well enough to do any sort of commentary and some have since passed away.

Yeah, and major studios tend not to put as much effort as Kino does in tracking down living participants of these older films. One of the only exceptions I can think of is the Rocky and Bullwinkle 3D short produced by Dreamworks for the Mr. Peabody and Sherman 3D blu-ray, which allowed June Foray one last opportunity to voice her iconic character, Rocky. Ironically, I thought the VA work sounded kind of like an older person doing an otherwise great Rocky impression... Didn't realize it was 97-year-old June Foray! It was such a fantastic send-off to the series, too; one could tell everyone involved truly loved the series. Here's to those rare opportunities when the stars all align and even older movies/franchises see involvement from a star!

Since I already own the individual releases for They Call Me Mister Tibbs! and The Organization, I wonder if Kino would just let me buy 2 copies of the slipcase? :-)

Related - wanted to know if there is any 90s horror in the MGM deal (dont remember this being ruled out).

Though she is the second eldest, responsible and resourceful Mary Call emerges as the head of the family, determined to do what she must to fulfill her deathbed promise to her father to keep the orphans together. I think you misunderstood KLI. When he is saying the show was "edited on video", he's talking about the fact that the film negatives were never conformed to the final edits. The masters only exist in SD. Assuming that the original 16mm elements still exist (quite possible), it's unlikely that anybody will spend the money to scan them in HD and re-edit the entire series in HD, because Paramount lost money doing that with "Star Trek: The Next Generation", which was a waaaaaay bigger seller than TOL would ever be. VEI did not go back to the original 16mm elements on "Stargate SG-1", they did exactly what KLI said is the only way that anybody would ever release "The Outer Limits" on blu, they upscaled the SD versions.
