Kino Lorber Insider,

Does Kino Lorber have plans to release any LGBT films in the near future?

I would love to see Blu-ray releases of: 120 BPM, Another Country, Beauty (Skoonheid), Breaking Fast, The Celluloid Closet, Charlatan, Dry Wind, Entertaining Mr. Sloane, The Hanging Garden, High Art, The Hours, The King and the Clown, Longtime Companion, Looking for Langston, The Most Beautiful Boy in the World, My Best Part, My Life in Pink, My Little Sister, My Summer of Love, Naz & Maalik, Nighthawks, Parting Glances, Personal Best, Potato Dreams of America, Saint-Narcisse, Spa Night, Swoon, Tenue de soirée (Ménage), Tomboy, Tremors (Temblores), Water Lilies, The Watermelon Woman, Wild Reeds, Young Soul Rebels, or any films by Gregg Araki, Eytan Fox, Joćo Pedro Rodrigues, Marco Berger, and Xavier Dolan.

I don't know much about home video rights, so I understand if that is an issue. Thanks

Really looking forward to the new restoration of Marty, and pretty cool that we're getting it in both 1.37:1 and 1.85:1 aspect ratios.

Criterion could, um, take note. *ahem*Summertime.

The back of the box for Siodmak's Farewell says it includes an alternate ending, but the menu doesn't seem to offer that option and there aren't any extra video files on the disc. Is the box wrong?

The Alternate ending plays at the end of the film. They give a little synopsis about changes made and why, then they play the alternate ending. I preferred the original ending as it was.

You can suggest stuff anytime you want, but we already have a list we're working on clearing.

IMDB lists is being back with MGM, but I've never seen it on any of the lists. It's probably not cleared due to music.

I have no idea, the company releases LGBT titles every year, we have dozens of titles on DVD and Blu-ray. As far as my department is concerned, KLSC has only released a few.

I just hope you guys continue to release European crime films. (Really hoping you guys can get Revolver) Really hoping for some with Lino Ventura, Jean Gabin, Alain Delon, and Jean-Paul Belmondo in your future deals.

Speaking of crime films, any idea when the The Cop (1970) will be released?

We're still waiting to receive the master, we need to subtitle the film and record a commentary.

Thanks. So it is still a ways off. Well, at least we know it's coming. Hope some more Euro crime films are in the works as well.

For those who have seen both, which Bob Hope film released by KLSC do you like better, Cat and the Canary or Ghost Breakers?

I can't answer for most of your requests but as a fellow Gregg Araki fan I can tell you that it could be a difficult road ahead regarding his films pre-Mysterious Skin and blu-ray releases of them. From what I understand he never secured the music rights to a lot of his films for future home video release (only VHS) and he used a lot of music from shoegaze and post-punk artists who've recorded with some major labels. I believe the same goes for some of the work from Harmony Korine and Larry Clark as well.

Now that we know the standalone releases from the current Universal deal, I've been trying to figure out the films that might show up in one of the yet-to-be-announced film noir sets. My detective work is amateurish at best since I have no idea regarding which companies may have already licensed which titles, or the condition of existing film elements. What I'm hoping is that BarnDoor, San Carolina or one of our other resident experts might comment on the possibilities. (You guys are amazing.)

[Show spoiler]1948 x 1
Parole, Inc.
Sorry, Wrong Number - unlikely since it would merit a standalone release

1949 x 1
Chicago Deadline
City Across the River
Illegal Entry
Manhandled
The Story of Molly X
Undertow

1950 x 5
Dark City
The Lawless - unlikely since it's a Pine-Thomas production
No Man of Her Own - I wish, but ruled out since it was released on DVD by Olive Films
One Way Street
Outside the Wall

1955 x 1
The Desperate Hours - unlikely since it would merit a standalone release

1956 x 1
Behind the High Wall
The Scarlet Hour

1957 x 5
Chicago Confidential
The Night Runner
Short Cut to Hell
Slaughter on Tenth Avenue
The Tattered Dress

1958 x1
Appointment with a Shadow
Step Down to Terror
