Any thoughts on The First Nudie Musical? It was released on Blu in a limited edition a decade ago, which is now long OOP. It has wonderfully sunny, Mickey and Judy, "hey kids, let's put on a show" feel, if Judy and Mickey took their clothes off.

The more I think about it, the more I feel a "Murder & Mayhem" series would be a great way for Kino to market crime films from the pre-noir era. And there are so many good 60-70 minute titles in the Paramount and Universal catalogues that would qualify. With such short running times it wouldn't be a problem to get two or even three on one disc.
Just a thought. |

[Show spoiler] Might any of these be on that list? I imagine you could fill a few two-disc, four- or five- film collections with some these, like those RKO collections from a few years ago. |

Coming to Blu-ray July 19th from Kino Classics, the Library of Congress, Fernando Martin Peña and Argentina Sono Film!
Native Son (1951) Directed by Pierre Chenal Starring Richard Wright, Jean Wallace, Gloria Madison, Nicholas Joy One of the most controversial novels of its day, Richard Wright’s Native Son (first published in 1940) exposed the injustices of urban African-American life, witnessed through the eyes of Bigger Thomas, whose violent tendencies and moral confusion were the natural result of a lifetime of deprivation. In prison for murder and sentenced to death, Thomas reflects on the circumstances that led to his fate. Kino Lorber presents a new restoration of the 1951 film version of the novel, directed by Pierre Chenal and starring Richard Wright as Bigger Thomas. It is presented in association with the Library of Congress, Fernando Martin Peña and Argentina Sono Film. When it was initially released in the U.S., Native Son was heavily censored by regional state/municipal censor boards where it played. A complete 16mm print of the original Argentinian release and an incomplete 35mm duplicate negative of the uncensored cut were combined for the current restoration, the most complete version of Native Son ever shown in the United States. Special features: *32-Page booklet with an essay by Edgardo Krebs *Re-release trailer *Optional English SDH subtitles NATIVE SON blueband.jpg |

From his posts on other sites he could be, shall we say, unnecessarily combative at times. While I don't know the reason, a similar hair trigger approach to posting here may account for it.

My two favorite French actors, followed by Lino Ventura, Jean Gabin, Gerard Depardieu, Jean Reno, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Vincent Cassel, Michel Piccoli and Michel Bouquet. But if I had to pick one, I would pick Belmondo over Delon.

All great actors overall, and glad you guys are fans over there, which always gives me more hope for more releases with these guys. I do wish you guys had gone after more Belmondo and Delon films while you were working with Studio Canal. Maybe in the future.
