I'd say the absolute best quality is Sony's XBR 34" widescreen Hi-Def tube TV's (which I am a proud owner of) - the drawback, you're limited to 34", only one HDMI port, and they weigh 300lbs.

The general consensus is plasma is better than LCD quality wise (and cue the dissenters), and of plasmas, the general consensus is that that the Kuro's offer the best quality (of which I'm also a proud owner of).
