Anthony Mann died with only two weeks of filming left, "A Dandy in Aspic" is 98% his film.

The Anthony Mann film I REALLY want to see get treated with love and respect on Blu-ray (or, even better, 4K) is the monumental epic THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.

The Strangers of Bombay (1959)
Yesterday's Enemy (1959)

I seem to remember the KLI said that there are no horror movies in one of their deals. I can't recall if it was Sony. But not all of these are horror. If there is horror The Revenge of Frankenstein would be great, as Indicator UK was the only label in the world to be able to use Sony's 4K remaster. Mill Creek used an old shoddy master, and they released it twice.

Anyway it just a thought that one of these could be one of the 1950's titles. I was thinking of asking the KLI if any of the films in the Sony deal could be of British origin? But I feel he would probably say he can't answer; never mind asking if there are any Hammer titles.
Speaking of Hammer possibilities, Devil Ship Pirates was missing in action from the Mill Creek boxset. It was recently released on a region B Blu from Network, bearing a Studio Canal label. Assuming the rights are no longer controlled by Columbia (hence, the reason it was not included in the MC Boxset), I wonder if this could be a possible Region A release for Kino through a Studio Canal deal.

With the Trilemma scene (which still exists in good quality even though it was cut from all but the 16mm negative taken from the original 65mm) restored. My favourite Mann film, but also the one that exists in the most different cuts.

Columbia still have the US rights but StudioCanal have UK and, I believe, European rights: it was an Associated British release in the UK.

An excellent Anthony Mann film that I discovered in the past year is "Reign of Terror" aka "Black Book" with Richard Basehart and Robert Cummings. It's in the Noir Archive Vol. 1 set released a couple years ago and it's an absolute gem.

I really hope Kino can do another deal with StudioCanal; we got some real gems (THE CRIMINAL, ACCIDENT, ROBBERY, THE RAGING MOON, etc.) in the last one.

I'd like that title but that was too rich for my blood. I'm sure it'll get re-released down the road by another label. I'd see someone like BFI put out a Leos Carax boxset like they did with Hirokazu Koreeda.

Artificial Eye have already put out a Carax boxset and it was missing The Lovers on the Bridge so there are problematic rights issues I'm guessing. You might be waiting a long time. It was a bit rich for my blood too but I grabbed it because I think it will be a long wait. That AE boxset contained The Night is Young and I realised Carax had captured a great actress, Binoche (and Delpy too) at a definitive moment. Carax might have had literary pretension but he was wise enough to cram his film with a truckload of gorgeous close ups of two happening actresses firing on all cylinders.

Never heard of that one but after looking it up I’d be interested in that one too.

Unfortunately, the Weinsteins have US rights, along with El Cid, Circus World, and 55 Days at Peking. They still retain the rights after the dismantling of their company.

It's part of the Films Around the World library that Cinedigm purchased. Would love to see KLSC crack that, but since Film Detective has been doing some streaming work with Cinedigm, I wonder if they may begin to put out the older genre titles in that catalogue on Blu?

I'm glad I ordered the While Supplies Last order the other day.

It looks like Four Times That Night Blu-ray is now OOP.

Dang, you're right! (The DVD is still available.)

Portrait of Jennie appears also to be out of print (though the DVD is still available on that one too).

Kino Lorber Insider,

I noticed that, though it's still listed on the Kino site, there is no longer a "Buy" option for the 1927 version of The Cat and the Canary. Is this title being discontinued altogether, or does this mean KL found elements for a new release?

I hope Kino can pickup The Beast (1988) if it's not included in their current Sony deal.

I'm pretty sure they are done with new to Blu-ray titles from the Sony deal. Maybe in the next deal and we can get Family Business with Sean Connery.
