They say "Targets is being suspended do to on-going issues regarding the materials required for the release."

So if they are having problems, I doubt we'll see it come from Kino anytime soon.
I thought this too, but then thought maybe the BFI deal is cancelled/suspended because of the Kino deal.

If they were to be released at the same time by each label, would stop the two markets from importing them from the other...

Face/Off is one I thought of. Looking at Paramount's biggest grossing movies, out of the top 40, most are either on 4K already or they are animated (Kino has no interest, plus Paramount probably wants those anyways) or recently released by PP titles. World War Z is another, but it's getting a sequel so there is that (they may wait for a 4K release to coincide). What Women Want, Noah, Deep Impact, Benjamin Button, Crocodile Dundee and The Last Airbender get us out to the top 60 of non-4K releases that meet the above criteria. There are a few PP titles (Ghost and Fatal Attraction) but with PP doing their own 4K, I don't see it (though you never know). A little further down the line some other big titles: The Truman Show, Face/Off, Sleep Hollow, The Longest Yard (2005) round out the top 100 (I may have missed a few). After that, the 4K possibilities open up a lot more. Still good stuff.

Unless one of those releases were Region Free, it wouldn't matter. There have been plenty of titles to get simultaneous releases in different regions.

- 16 4K UHD titles, all format debuts (all previously released on Blu-ray)
- 'Most' of the 4K UHD titles are currently available on Blu-ray from the studio
- Planning to remaster two to three dozen titles, and will remaster any 'big' title they think is in need of a new transfer

- Includes at least one 3D title
- Includes a few Republic titles
- Includes some titles released by Imprint in Australia

- No CBS or Miramax titles
- No titles previously released by Olive
- No titles previously released solely as BD-Rs by Paramount
- No serials
- No Elvis
- Films seemingly ruled out for various reasons: Borsalino, Gunn, Little Darlings, Looking for Mr Goodbar
Am I reading this correctly, that only 8 movies in this deal don't have a bluray somewhere in the world ?

KLI, do you know how many Blu-ray copies of The Night Strangler and The Night Stalker are left since they're going out of print?

They’ve made a point of never revealing stock quantities because it causes resellers to swoop in, buy them all up, and immediately price them higher.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm saying. Maybe the BFI Targets was in the works, and with the Kino deal pending, it was stipulated that BFI postpone their release to let the potential Kino release come out at a similar time. It could be a mutually interest to all parties, and/or fees could have been paid to make this happen.

I don't think so. BFI aquired the rights to Targets in early 2021. Then they announced a release date of March 22, 2021, and changed to October 4, and pushed back again to June 22. That's a long history well before Kino's new deal.

Originally I thought Scream Factory might release it through their Paramount deal. But now, unless Paramount expects Kino to do something with the elements issue, that BFI thus far, hasn't been able to do, I doubt it is even being offered to them.

It needs a new master. But who's going to do it? BFI also said "they hope to release it in the future." So I think we'll see it released in the UK first.

BFI postponed their release because of issues with the film elements, not because of Kino's new deal. As I said before, I doubt Paramount even offered it to Kino because of these issues.

No. 8 titles don't have a Blu-ray or DVD in the world.

Paramount has been releasing some older catalog titles that never made it to DVD/and or blu-ray, like Going Ape, Foul Play, and Bugsy Malone. I'd love to see Coast to Coast (1980) make it, but I don't see it as a Kino title. They will probably be Noir movies (IMO). We will see.

Going Ape was pretty epic in terms of a release. Foul Play actually had a few releases on DVD though. Still, I'm glad all these catalogue titles are coming. The Paramount deal is probably the most excited I've been for a US studio deal in awhile. They got a ton of titles.

The Experts with John Travolta has got to be one of those titles that never even had a DVD.

I'm sure hoping so anyway.

I'm not answering these types of questions. And no questions about actors, directors, etc.

They cannot license Batjac titles, they'll have to be released by the studio.

Borsalino was never with Olive. It was restored in 4K by Immagine Ritrovata a few years ago.
