I was cataloging my posters and noticed I have one that is supposedly rare... The Aliens poster advance copy recalled because Sigourney Weaver wasn't happy with it...or so the story goes.... It's the poster with her holding Newt and a pulse rifle in a bunch of alien eggs.... and mine is in rolled and fairly decent shape.
This seems too good to be true....and I picked it up with a few other posters for next to nothing. Has anyone seen an article on how to tell if it's real or fake? I've been searching....but not having any luck. I'm just starting to collect posters (only ones I can pick up for a few bucks here and there) and can't believe I might have lucked out. I'll post a picture tomorrow if I remember to take one tonight. Here's the photo..... sorry for the poor quality, I just wanted to give an idea which 'poster' it is. I'm beginning to think it's fake since there are a lot for sale describing it as rare..... Last edited by lucasatakros; 04-13-2022 at 01:49 PM. Reason: add photo |

I'm extremely excited!! I just aquired through Facebook Marketplace the original double-sided theatrical poster for The Polar Express, which is my favorite Christmas movie. The person was selling it for $15 but I paid $26 in total to get it shipped to where I live. And it's, for the most part, in mint condition!! I've seen other websites selling it for over $100. I can't wait to get my new sleeves for my baroque portfolio so I can get it full stored in it!!

Try contacting via their e-mail. I had to do that to get the ball rolling. I will have to do the same thing here soon since my sleeves have not shipped yet. They had a delay thinks to the container that they are in was still on the ship and it hadn't docked yet. Stupid stock problems!

Yeah, I was about to e-mail them myself for the sleeves because it's been over 2 weeks since they sent an e-mail about waiting for the shipment container to get to port. Can't blame them for being behind since it's not under their control. It's a crazy world we live in with all of the shortages and stock issues!

Just to let you guys know, I got my sleeves from Baroque Portfolios about a week ago. I ordered them in February so slowly but surely they are getting their stock. I haven't had time to get the sleeves into the portfolio but I'm just happy they have arrived.

It's official. I finally made it into the club.
Approx. 175 authentic original one sheet movie posters, all acquired just this month. Dates are 1970-2021. Plenty of what I have are super rare, but probably only because some of those films super suck ![]() [Show spoiler] The posters are pretty good though. Single sided, double sided, rolled, folded, board mounted, and damaged goods all included. Teasers, Advance, and Imax's too. Sourced from two authentic and very reliable local parties. 20220518_200443-2700x3600.jpg Today, I purchased these two cabinets. Not pretty, but they will clean up well. A local seller made it worth it for me to choose this as my poster storage option, plus my fast growing collection will have no storage limitations. Now I just have to figure out how to move these heavy suckers. Couple of hundred pounds each. ![]() 20220520_141855-3600x2700.jpg Last edited by 314carpenter; 05-21-2022 at 06:54 AM. |

Source is a local Art gallery with 20 employees that frames and ships internationally. These cabinets were used for product that now is no longer stocked, but is printed on-site on-demand instead. Even though these cabinets are older, they were only ever used for art prints, and by design still meet all current archival requirements. The interiors are fine. The drawer slides are well used and a bit sticky. Hopefully wax can help with that.
Stacked 2 high, they stand 35 3/8" tall. With a 3/4 wood tabletop it'll make a great workstation in my wife's sewing room. I just wish they were built shorter like the current ones Safco makes. That would allow for a base to be built so you can get your feet underneath a few inches, sort of like your kitchen counters have. Instead, I'll extend the table top so it overhangs the cabinets several inches in front. What I really need now is to find 200 4mil ultra clear mylar sleeves. Looking here for suggestions and if you know of best pricing, that would be ideal. Last edited by 314carpenter; 05-22-2022 at 06:29 PM. |

LOL, please let me know if you ever find affordable sleeves! I plan on using archival tissue paper between mine.... otherwise I'll be spending 2-3 times as much for the mylar sleeve as I paid for the posters!!!

What would you consider to be an affordable price for 10 archival quality sleeves? My research is showing some places selling 20 for $250 plus tax. I could potentially offer them for a much more reasonable cost, just for the few here that may want to buy them from me. It'll be a few more weeks until I get setup before I can make any promises though. Last edited by 314carpenter; 05-23-2022 at 02:49 AM. |
