The Force is right. On every Blu-Ray forum, there are multiple threads like this one every week. People just do not understand business at all. It's "I want it, I want it now, and I want it cheap. Why don't the studios do what I ask them to do?"
First of all, I certainly did not want to turn this into a "I WANT THIS NOW" thread. Not my intent at all. I suppose I should not have even mentioned any titles by name. My point was that the format seems to be on the precipice of mainstream acceptance, and to push it over that edge, the rate of high quality titles should hopefully increase. To answer your first point I have a business degree. It has worked out for me well. I really enjoy my home theater that I paid cash for. Secondly, you cannot really compare DVD to Blu-ray effectively. The jump from VHS to DVD was huge. While I appreciate and love the jump from DVD to Blu-ray, many people do not see the benefits, and I would hope actions by the studio could change that. I am sold on the format. I know full well the studios have a formula that projects profits relative to a release schedule. I also know you cannot have everything released at once. I would prefer a well done Lawrence of Arabia to a poor transfer to get a release out. My only point, and I thought it was a simple one, was that it would seem that the rate of the AAA titles should begin to increase. If this topic is too offensive, I can suggest people with psychology degrees that can help.
