You're right, Paramount only had the TV rights.

Still think Death Wish 4k will be an earlier announcement from this Paramount deal, it just makes sense.

The fact that BLOOD AND ROSES hasn't even been released by a legitimate European label tells me that there is a major rights or money issue with it. Reminds me of Kino and Studio Canal's aborted attempt to release MACISTE VS. THE VAMPIRES, another genre film that hasn't been legitimately released via European home video.

Where did I say that I took his word for it? We used to make fun of the guy for it. This was back during the height of the DVD era, so Olive acquiring it or it always being available for licensing is irrelevant.

I hope they release The Shootist since they were unwilling to license it out for whatever reason.
I've been watching the front page for almost a year now, typically hoping to see one of my all-time fav films, The Longest Yard (1974), finally get an announce. But I see Paramount agog over their 90s & 80s titles, with guaranteed posts from fans almost always stating that Paramount is killin' in on catalog releases, or something to that effect. At this point, I think that Paramount releasing product from the 70s and back, only wants to deal with releasing the essentials, titles that will move major units. So they look at the original version of TLY, and they probably only did moderate business with the DVD, but much bigger sales on newer "hits", hence they would rather license out anything that may not reach "x" amount of units. They probably look at "Paper Moon" and say, "neither Ryan nor Tatum remain popular in 2022 video $ales -- and it's in black & white!!!", thus are only too happy to license it out to the indies and/or boutique houses.

Personally, I see them hanging onto Chinatown, Saturday Night Fever, even Once Upon a Time in the West, John Wayne titles, etc. because those are likely to make enough money to satisfy their accountants.

Yeah, I've always understood it to be with Paramount but held up by clearance issues.

I thought all of you that brought this one up were asking for a 4k - but got curious and I am stunned that this one hasn't been brought on at least blu in the US.

I agree Saturday Night Live is almost certainly not happening from Kino, but I wouldn’t put Chinatown out of the potential grabs.

Once Upon a Time in the West is more of a prestige title as Mifunefan put it. I still think there’s a good chance they were given that one. If only because it’s been mentioned a few dozen of times in the thread and Mr Insider hasn’t shot it down (where as he did shoot down the John Wayne titles which have been mentioned less times).

I think I saw someone mention Sleepy Hollow. That’s another one I can picture Paramount being ok with parting with. Same with Witness. But then again until we see tomorrows title it’s really hard to tell how open they went in this deal.

I’m hoping for FACE/OFF in UHD. Not sure if that’s already been shot down though.

Saw the two Dr. Goldfoot movies for 30 each, but I hesitated, seeing a UK double pack for 25 which I've been holding off on, now they're getting a very nice slipped re-release. Thank you Kino.

The Kino Insider has said that there will be a two-fer of the two Goldfoot films released in the future.

Sleepy Hollow would be a good October release. It’s in very bad need of a new remaster too.

Had this from Day 1. Maybe our hope of a HD release lies in Europe or Australia.

Not from the same companies, but I would think if Kino can get The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, then Once Upon A Time In the West is certainly possible.

One of Aldrich's best films and one of Reynolds' too.
