Isn't the 1995 Sabrina with Harrison Ford also Paramount? I could see that one finally getting the blu ray treatment thanks to Kino in this deal.

Hopefully one of those 90's films is SCHOOL TIES. And like everyone else, I'd love it if one of the 4Ks were Weir's WITNESS

I’ve been really into 70s cop action-thriller type films lately so I wouldn’t mind more of those coming out.

Am amazed Paramount licensed a DreamWorks title, usually Spielberg touched titles are not licensed.

From that list, surely Bad Company. Not only the best Western of the 1970s but one of the best American films from that decade full stop. There's no way Kino would call that one a ""DVD" title that won't sell on Blu-ray"

It hasn't been outright cancelled, it is just indefinitely postponed until the restoration is completed.
What I'm saying is if BFI can't release it at this time '"due to ongoing issues with the materials required for the release" (a direct quote from them), then I'm strongly speculating Kino won't be able to either, if in fact they have it in this new Paramount deal, which I doubt. There's really nothing there to misunderstand.

Are they refunding pre-order money because of this delay "or cancellation", terminology used in the press release. Yes.

BTW, I don't see where BFI says they're specificly waiting for a 4K remaster. Where did you see that?

It looks like Paramount is still more focused on their comedies as they announced a few today. I'm really hoping a lot of the stuff Kino releases is the grittier stuff that Paramount isn't that focused on.

I may have imagined '4K' being specified, but Ben Stoddart (BFI's manager of operations) is very active on the BFI Facebook group and has said all along, well, I'll quote:

"Put simply, there is a brand new restoration being done and we have no control as to the timeline for its completion. We want to release the best possible version of this much requested film, and I'm sure fans want the same. Rest assured that the film will be released by the BFI. Delays are always disappointing but we appreciate your patience and understanding."

The materials in question is the new restoration. There'd be nothing preventing them (or another label who licence it) releasing the existing master. He also said the other day "The material in this instance is the new HD master. Suffice it to say I wouldn't delay a release for 2 years in order to include an extra."

Have there been any updates on the Cry Baby 4K? It was supposed to come out "early 2022," and that ship has sailed. :/

I wonder if the fact Paramount just announced a new reprint of Stalag 17 might indicate that Kino did not pick that one up.

Back to the Beach has me really excited. With luck Kino has Johnny Dangerously and two of my most wanted titles will get released

I did not see that Facebook post. Is the bolded statement yours or Ben Stodart's?

Anyway, I'm just speculating that if BFI won't use the existing master, Kino can't or won't either. I would think Kino would wait for the new restoration as well. And again I'm speculating that Kino wasn't even offered it.

Johnny Dangerously is a Fox title now owned by Disney so Kino won’t have it.

Does the Paramount deal with Kino include Death Wish (1974)?

If so, hopefully Bronson expert Paul Talbot will be called upon for another enthralling audio commentary.

That would complete his audio commentaries for all 5 Death Wish movies.

2024 is the 50th Anniversary of the release of the first film in the series.

They usually don't confirm or deny titles otherwise everyone would be on here asking if the deal includes so and so. I think it's highly possible that one of the UHD titles is Death Wish, but that's just a guess.

Probably a good thing since quite a few labels have complained they don't sell well...unless they star Bob Hope of course.

Now it becomes the waiting game to see what Kino has, and what might be under license to someone else. Really curious about Black Sunday and if Shout moved faster on that one first, or if Kino was able to pick it up.
