Its the same TV minus a few bells and whistles that you probably won't use, but with the same great picture and a lot cheaper. And that Samsung UN46B7000 is LED edge lit and not back lit with local dimming, so I advise you to completely avoid that TV. According to the Cnet review done on an edge lit set the results were very sub par and it was no better than traditional LCD's. If you want an LED back lit set with local dimming which will perform very well then you should look at THIS 46" Samsung or THIS 47" LG. I still think the Panny is the better way to go especially since its within your budget. Its one of the best TV's you can get.
I agree with this guy, I would look into a 58" plasma, it's bigger and it will beat the picture quality. Not to say that if you bought a 52" Samsung, you would be dissapointed, because they have incredible picture quality. I love my 46", it's got an amazing picture. BUT, the plasma will outperform it in quality. After I had mine for a while, I started dreaming about a future TV and was looking at a Samsung 55" 950, but now I'm shooting for a 60" Kuro, just can't beat it.

If I were you and looking at a budget TV, I would go for either the LN52A750 for $1799 or the LN52A650 for $1947 (which has been cheaper in the past, might want to wait for a sale or somethin)

Good luck man
