We also have the Blu-ray rights, the 4K set will include the film on Blu-ray and we may also release the film again on Blu-ray. We're planning to acquire the previously produced extras from SF.

Ask Scorpion about their KL co-release of For Those Who Think Young, which I know is not your typical BP movie, but it has an amazing cast (James Darren, Pamela Tiffin, Nancy Sinatra, Bob Denver, Tina Louise, Paul Lynde, Claudia Martin, Ellen Burstyn) and has done horrible numbers.

I love fans who think they know more about sales than labels/studios releasing discs.
Oh I don't think I know more than you guys, just my take, that's all. I would never want to watch For Those Who Think Young, let alone buy it... but I think Eric Von Zipper has made me laugh harder than Bob Hope ever did.

As for VP, I am truly amazed at his popularity in this day and age, I think it's GREAT! Love to get a complete Hilarious House of Frightenstein set with music intact on BD, talk about a Holy Grail! Both Goldfoot films are really bad though, but I've always been an AIP fan.

I could see something like The Delta Force getting a 4K upgrade. It's the granddaddy of over-the-top 80's action movies and one hell of an entertaining one. Speaking of Chuck Norris, the Missing In Action films are severely lacking in proper releases. The original is also an 80's classic but all 3 films are fun. How's about a box set, Kino? Or individual releases? Put slipcovers on these puppies and watch them fly off the shelves

There's no more 4K UHD upgrades in this deal, and since Delta Force is with Scorpion there's no chance of it getting a regular upgrade.

That said, I'm thinking we'll get a few Norris titles. The 1984 title could be Missing in Action, and perhaps we'll get the 2 sequels along with Invasion USA.

Yes, I've never seen any of the "beach party" movies, but I'm sure Kino realizes Back to the Beach was a big hit among people my age who grew up in the 80s. Nickelodeon shoved Back to the Beach promo material down our throats, Pee Wee Herman had a Top 40 hit in "Surfin Bird" while his star power was flying high, etc.. Back to the Beach was a a summer event movie in a way, before Batman came along and really revolutionized the summer blockbuster *MUST SEE* movie events. So there's the Frankie and Anette crowd, Fishbone makes an appearance for cult music fans, and then the younger viewers loving the nostalgia of this film.

I own Back to the Beach on VHS, original DVD, and I have pre-ordered the blu-ray. But yeah, saying Kino made a mistake because Paramount sees the beach party movies as sellers based on Back to the Beach getting a Paramount Presents release kind of misses the point of why this movie will sell well. It has multi generational and pop culture appeal.

Olive released a bunch of them, the only way I can see us releasing the series as a set would be if all the titles were newly restored by MGM and all we had to worry about the guaranteed advance/authoring/replication, but as far as I know, most of them are older HD masters and some are only available in SD.
Someone who works for MGM has claimed that the AIP Beach Party series have all been preserved in HD, but of course I don't know if those are older HD masters or not. I'd love to purchase a box set of them.

You're being deliberately obtuse. All of those aspects are part of the film, not just one cameo or performance in isolation and me mentioning them was to illustrate the significance of the films themselves.

And if cameos were not a significant aspect of the film, then why would you be touting "hilarious cameos" by Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing as part of your announcement for the Salt & Pepper/One More Time release?

No, I'm not actually. And nowhere in my post did I imply that I was, except in the context that you had released portions of one franchise while another label released the others. That was in response to you talking about releasing a Beach Party box set, when I merely suggested releasing one double-feature release of two films from the series.

You were the one that admitted that you misjudged the popularity of the Thunderbirds titles, and you've admitted in the past that there are several other titles that you probably shouldn't have released. You post frequently about titles that have poor sales. So either your company is not that great at anticipating the popularity of a lot of titles yourselves, or you are not averse to occasionally releasing something that might not sell like gangbusters because there are other factors, such as historical significance, at play.

It's the latter that I was hoping to appeal to.

You may recall that the Kino Insider previously said there were multiple films from the same franchise/series included in the MGM deal. Since there are no (more) previously on Blu titles from 1986 or 1989, I believe that basically leaves us with:

Missing in Action 1-3
Ghoulies 1 and 2

The Kino Insider did pretty much confirm the 2 Ghoulies films aren't with VS, but didn't rule out the prospect of them coming from Kino (though Arrow is the stronger rumour). I'd say 2 or 3 of the Missing in Action films is a better bet.

OK, you just sort of proved your point with this part. I saw that double-feature announcement, but didn't read it as I wasn't interested in the films themselves. But cameos by Lee and Cushing?!?!? OK, Kino now just got one more sale right here!

I always find it amusing when people suggest some obscure title that they want and then say “this would be a huge seller for Kino!”

"Bob Cummings, star of Hitchcock's Saboteur!"

Those are fans you’re referring to, not experts. You know, the people who get excited about product, aka paying customers. Insulting and condescending them is bad PR, imo.

Thank you. You dashed my hopes for The Delta Force but I'll happily take a Missing In Action trilogy

I mentioned in another thread how I wish Scorpion's future could be clearly defined. They have a ton of titles I'd love to see hit 4K but they're not as active as they used to be for obvious reasons.
