I wouldn't buy any old Paramount BDs regardless of price now that the studio's vault doors are wide open. Pretty much any A or even B list back catalog title that hasn't had a Blu-ray release in North America is likely slated for an upgrade either via the boutique labels or the studio itself. Unless, of course, you're one of those folks who is perfectly happy with DVD or old barebones BDs as long as they're bargain priced

Yeah, I figured everyone would be talking about news like that. The original post stated it like a fact; maybe I just missed the sarcasm font

Great news on Escape from Alcatraz. Would love if KLSC could bring us domestic UHDs of Serpico and Three Days of the Condor without the revisionist orange/teal push present in the import releases.

There's already a 4K I think, but I skipped that one because it doesn't have any English SDH.

Just ordered Killer's Kiss 4K from Amazon for $14.99. Killer (pun intended) price for a UHD. Can't pass this up. No way this will ever be cheaper even directly from Kino during one of their sales.

According to a user review from this site, the Arrow version of Kill, Baby... Kill! is much superior to the Kino version, yet judging by the DVDBeaver caps, the 2 are sourced from the same scan, with Kino having a more aggressive grading.

Haven't watched this movie yet, is it worth it to buy the Arrow BD over renting the Kino BD?

I've never watched the Arrow version, but I can tell you that it is a kick ass movie that is defiantly worth owning rather than renting.

Kino's transfer hasn't been color-corrected like the Arrow one so it will be more green and yellow hues. The Arrow release, like most of their Bava titles, are OOP now, so it might be hard for you to get that one without paying premium on ebay. Kino's release will also be going OOP (along with several other Bava films too).

Featuring chariot-charging action, fearless tiger-wrestling stunts and an earthshaking climax, Samson and the 7 Miracles of the World is a sword-and-sandal spectacular from the maestro Riccardo Freda (The Horrible Dr. Hichcock, Murder Obsession). Hordes of sadistic Mongol warriors descend upon China, enslaving its people and plotting to assassinate the beautiful young princess (Yôko Tani, The Savage Innocents)—until a musclebound hero (Gordon Scott, Tarzan the Magnificent) rises up and rouses the people to drive the Mongols from their nation’s majestic mountainscapes. A legendary warrior fulfills his destiny and becomes a miracle of a man in this classic peplum adventure film, also known as Maciste at the Court of the Great Khan. This special edition includes both the original cut and the American International Pictures US cut.

Coming to DVD and Blu-ray August 2nd from Cohen Media Group and Kino Lorber!

Apples
Directed by Christos Nikou
Executive producer: Cate Blanchett

Amidst a worldwide pandemic that causes sudden amnesia, middle-aged Aris (Aris Servetalis) finds himself enrolled in a recovery program designed to help unclaimed patients build new identities. Prescribed daily tasks on cassette tapes so he can create new memories and document them on camera, Aris slides back into ordinary life, meeting Anna (Sofia Georgovasili), a woman who is also in recovery. Through images deadpan, strange and surreal, Greek writer-director Christos Nikou posits a beguiling reflection on memory, identity, and loss, exploring how a society might handle an irreversible epidemic through one man’s story of self-discovery. Are we the sum of the images we compile and display of ourselves, or are we something richer, and deeper?

Special features:
• Taika Waititi in conversation with director Christos Nikou
• A conversation with director Christos Nikou and executive producer
Cate Blanchett moderated by journalist Anne Thompson
• Trailers
