To be honest, I'm actually surprised that it didn't sell well "because" of that reason. One of the great things about physical media is that no one can take it away from you due to the misbehavior of an actor or director.

But KL released Go Go Mania hosted by Jimmy Savile, whose crimes eclipsed Bill Cosby's. Most Americans probably haven't heard of the scandal that shook the UK.

I don't think it had anything to do with it, it was a box office bomb, that never got a VHS release and when it finally came out on DVD, it was an under the radar DVD-R release. No one remembers the movie and if they do, they most likely never saw it.

I love the film, it has a great cast and some great action scenes. When we were releasing it on Blu-ray, we tried to get Walter Hill for an interview or commentary, but he turned us down.

I'm sure a Blu-ray of Mother, Jugs & Speed would sell well.

Since I pre-ordered TGTBATU and got it with the slip, I didn't get to find out today if I'm the kind of person who would pay $20 just for a slip. I did find out I'm not the kind of would pay $20 for it just to sell it on ebay for a lot more, so that's nice...

Yes, but to be honest we had no idea who Savile was and was accused of, we picked it up for all the cool music and performances by some legendary artists. And it's not like we didn't release Hickey & Boggs, we just don't want to re-release it.

They are discontinuing it because the license expired, not because of Cosby's involvement and I imagine if Cosby's participation played any role in them not renewing it, it was due to the amount of blowback they may have received from customers. If most Americans have no idea who Savile is, then they probably did not receive the same amount of blowback over that one.

I asked in the movie's thread, but didn't get a definitive answer. I bought mine from elsewhere, so is there a way to tell from the disc if it's the corrected replacement? Usually a new number added, etc.

We did not discontinue anything, it was available for 7 years. After the rights expired, we decided not to renew it, paying another advance for a poor performing titles did not make any sense then or now.

I'm sure when our deal for Go Go Mania ends, it'll also go out of print.

A lot of speculation gets overly simplified into a single reasoning, especially here in the forum. Life as well as business are often more complicated than they appear. New decisions often don't get addressed until business contracts end.

Ah. You must be thinking of the famous (according to Demon Dave) Dark Force glow in the dark slipcover for Dead Pit. Also it was embossed.

Were the specs for Mercenary Fighters released yet? I know it's supposed to come out on August 23rd, but haven't heard anything about it and we are hearing about the August 31st titles.
