Get my Turning Red 4K, immediately spot multiple scratches on the disc.

PC confirms the disc has multiple read errors.

Disc stacking fails again. I can't even do the return through Target since it's out of stock, I have to ask Disney for the disc replacement and jump through those hoops.

My Turning Red 4K Target Exclusive arrived today and started freezing & leaving big color blobs on the screen around the 53-54 minute mark. I washed off the disc at that point just in case it was something other than the multiple scratches present across the disc surface. Unfortunately, cleaning didn't make any difference at all.

I long for the days pre-Covid when scratched discs were far less of a problem with many studios (WB and Disney in particular).

When blurays first came out I heard a lot of complaints from friends and on this forum and DVDs were rock solid.

Now whether the discs are stacked or not I’ve read many issues with 4K and now it’s blurays that are rock solid.

I’m glad they are still doing combo packs! I also don’t think there will be another format and that 4K may not even have a chance to become rock solid.

I’ve read bluray discs are very strong and more resistant to scratches.

AND with digital codes in the packages we are getting a 4K copy.

I know how aggravating it is to get a bad disc but at least we now have some options.

This is true but also the Technicolor plant in Mexicali specifically has terrible quality control and doesn't want to do anything about it and they're the only game in town, which is a little different from when Blu-rays were new.

My Turning Red did have three small marks on the disc but it played.

Disney/Fox should put the 4K disc on the bottom. When I get stacked discs I move the movie discs to the bottom immediately and special features disc stacked.

But Mouse House probably could give a sh!t unfortunately.

I thought BD and 4K discs were made with the same anti-scratch coating. I wasn't aware that BDs are stronger and more resistant than 4Ks. I thought the main difference was the density of the data underneath.

After reading all of this, I opened up my Turning Red 4K and I couldn't spot any scratches on any of the discs.

Actually, that's pretty common for non-Disney titles to only get a BD exclusive at Target. Most recently:

- The Batman
- The Matrix Resurrections
- Dune


Spider-Man: No Way Home (Sony) gets a pass, likely due to some special exception/agreement.
