Halladay injured, groin... not sure how long he is out.

Jays having big time trouble with Wells and Rios still, they finally shuffled the line up but it didn't do any good for them.

Without a legimate #4 hitter(I love Lind but he is no true Clean up hitter yet) and no true closer with heat, i'm amazed we sit where we do but I think the party may be over soon unless people start earning what they make in the line up.

also Lind might actually do better without the pressure of that 4 spot so it could actually be hurting more then it already is.

I can't stand Jaba, its like your good but having one good inning doesn't mean you should act like you just threw a perfect in game 7 of the world series.

It is good entertainment when he does it in like the second inning b4 the games even underway

I agree on Jaba... you can't be pumping your fist in the 3rd inning when you strike someone out lol

It will come back to haunt you! Brunett is another first pumper, not as much as aba though, after a 'big' strike out, but should reserve the action for the last out of the game maybe lol... usualy always came back to get him in the end with the Jays.

What an interesting day in baseball. Beckett and Santana both made starts today, so it seemed like easy wins for their teams... or at least they'd have a good shot at winning.

Instead, both teams got hammered.

Yankees beat the mets 15-0 (9 of those runs charged to Santana, which is a new record for him).

Phillies beat the Red Sox 11-6 (6 of those runs charged to Beckett).

I'm not a fan of Inter-League play either. It just seems to take away from the World Series for me. There's about a 1 in 3 chance that the two teams in the World Series played each other in the past season, and about a 100% chance they played each other within the last 2-3 years.

I like the mystery of how they'll actually match up, rather than just glancing back a few months in the schedule and seeing how they did when they already played each other.

The 2000 World Series was pretty boring, not only because the Mets weren't that great, but because the Yankees playing the Mets didn't really seem like a big deal anymore, since it'd been happening every year for the last 5 seasons.

Also, as a fan of AL baseball, I'm a bit sad that the Yankees will head into a 9-game road trip against NL teams on Thursday, meaning I won't see a DH again for almost 2 weeks.

I always felt like it was a disadvantage for AL teams playing in NL parks, because they build their teams around hitting, and suddenly have to let their pitcher go out and hit, whereas an NL team essentially always having a pinch-hitter for their pitcher doesn't seem like it throws their game off as much. But I think the AL has more wins in inter-league play, and the Yankees have the most of any team, so that must not really be the case.

And finally, Chien Ming Wang. He got hurt last year in an inter-league game, when running the bases, and he hasn't been the same since. I think he got his ERA down to 14.00 now, but he still has a long way to go. He pitches again tonight, and the Yankees are sort of treating it like his ultimatum game. Pitch well, or you're out of the rotation again.

lol pretty sure we all knew that but thanks for making it official now. I think both him and Mark shouldn't get in for that great summer they destroyed by taking roids.

Yup, it was pretty obvious when he suddenly completely forgot English whilst appearing before that Congressional committee.

The funny thing is the summer where McGwire and Sosa battled for the home run crown was one of the best things that ever happened for baseball. After the strike and not having a World Series a lot of people quit caring about the sport and that home run battle and subsequent record-breaking brought a lot of fans back. Even if it's looked back at now with disgust it still helped the game long-term.

Yeah I know and I'm glad it happened but like every night tuning in watching a home run, cheering, picking who you wanted to win, it wasn't because they were that much better then everyone they just had the best help. Like I said b4 I'm glad it happened I'm just not happy I can say "hey remember that home run race in the 90's ?" and hear someone say "yeah I wish I could have been around for that". Instead we'll hear didn't they take roids?

Amen... my thoughts exactly. It use to be really cool when the World Series had the mystery around it of 2 Leagues colliding... not any more.

And there is nothing worse than no DH in my opinion... total wasted batted spot!

The DH makes no sense. Why shouldn't a pitcher have to hit. It doesn't make sense that just because a player only plays every 5 days they don't have to hit. Doesn't make economical sense either. Teams have to use a roster spot on a player that just hits. It gives a big advantage to teams like the Yankees and Red Sox who can give a huge contract to a DH, while a team like the Rays can't afford to spend money on someone that doesn't play in the field.

AL guy here all the way haha... i don't get the pitcher hitting at all anymore... i know it will never change and that's fine but I still think Inter-League is stupid and very unfair for AL Teams in NL Parks. And it makes the WS boring as mentioned earlier.

Yeah, I'm an NL guy so I like the DH. As a Cubs fan some of the best hitters on the team are the pitchers. The Cubs hitters are so pathetic right now. I'm listening to the Cubs game now and they're about to lose. They've scored 9 runs in the last 6 games (counting today's game and assuming a 4-1 loss), and are 1-5 in those games. Luckily the rest of the division is struggling so they aren't falling out of contention and maybe the hitters will wake up when Aramis comes back.

I like the DH because I like baseball.

And my definition of baseball is good hitting and good pitching. Let the pitchers worry about pitching, and if someone wants to dedicate their entire training to hitting, and sucks at fielding, then I'm fine with that too.

The AL doesn't force a DH, it's just an option. Options are always good.

I hate that in the NL, a game could essentially come down to a combination of luck and timing, and where a pitcher's at-bats fall. If he comes to bat in a crucial spot of the game, you now have to weigh the benefits of putting in a real hitter vs the loss of having to take your pitcher out of the game.

Also, I don't buy the whole "DH's are too expensive thing", because most DH's also play in the field, and the DH is generally an extra fielder who is getting half a day off. People that tend to be DH-only players are in the latter part of their career, and probably aren't getting paid tons of money.
