How would I know whether you're region free or not? A lot of member, including myself, are... so it's a non-issue for us. We can choose which edition we prefer.

If that was the case, why would it only affect certain discs? Some discs have fantastic well balanced sound like Out of The Past, and Murder My Sweet, which I watched recently.
Then you can have low dialogue in films like Casablanca and Gun Crazy. I have heard other people complaining about this as well.

Well I don't know. I just know that Soundbars will never be even remotely as good as an actual receiver with 5 speakers.

Makes sense. I stopped bothering with the region free game when my DVD player died a decade ago. It was just too much of a hassle to purchase region free players, especially when the Playstations became my players. I just don't see a reason to constantly having to buy a stand alone player every 2-3 years when Playstation consoles could do the same for a decade without needing to be replaced.

My PS3 still works perfect fine and it outlived 3 stand alone Blu-Ray players. My PS4 and PS5 are fine too, though I haven't used them as much for movies since there's been nothing wrong with my PS3. Well, the PS5 is used solely for UHDs.

How am I doing anything wrong? I turn the player on, I put the disc in the machine, I watch said disc.

I can't control when the player just decides to fully freeze up and not respond to anything I hit on the remote on the player itself until I unplug it and plug it back in. Or that it starts freezing or skipping during a movie.

Like one of my players would always freeze during the first Star Wars movie right when Luke is in the X wing heading towards the Death Star. I don't know why, but that player hated the rest of the movie so I had to switch the PS3 and the movie would play just find without a single hiccup.

Audio sounds like it is coming from a garbage can with soundbars. I forget which movie my friend was watching but the explosions and music sounded very garbled up on the soundbar, something that would not happen with real speakers.

What it costs you and what it costs the manufacturer don't necessarily correlate.

If you've never seen it, DOWN THREE DARK STREETS (1954), a film we restored in its OAR and released on BD will be playing on Noir Alley this weekend. Below is a trailer we cut for it upon it's release.

Also know that we have not renewed our license on the film (and other MGM titles) and it is officially out of print, but we will be holding one last MGM OOP sale next month on our site before we remove them completely.

I had watched Because Of You today and it was okay. A little too melodramatic and the main girl was a freaking moron. It seemed like she just wanted to be dominated by abusive men as sh enever once had a single thought for herself. She also learned nothing by the end of the film. Still, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as Sleeping City and Calcutta, so that was good.

Um... question. I had preordered the Darkside of Noir Volume I that is supposed to be out today, but Amazon has yet to ship it and now says they have no idea when it will be delivered, is this normal? I thought the whole point of preordering through Amazon was a guaranteed delivery on the day of release?

Amazon hasn't been that way for a long time, especially with Kino titles. It's now pretty typical for them to show an item available until its release date, then it magically disappears for at least a week or two until it becomes available again.
