I'm pretty sure that most "early adopters" of first generation players, would have upgraded to at least a HDMI 1.3 player that at least bitstream the advanced codecs. That's the nature of the early adopter. The general member of the public wouldn't have even purchased a player till the 2nd and 3rd generations.

That is the silliest reason yet.

Besides, Dolby is based in San Francisco, and the codecs were developed here in the USA.

DTS' codecs were developed in Ireland.

/again, cue NBC's The More You Know

Still favoring dts but not quite the slamdunk as here. I guess it is how they view the second and third options.
Can you link me to that poll, i cant find it.

As it's been said, it's not how many votes, but why, and if there's money to be made.

So far, that really hasn't been done. No matter how many of these get posted.

In Penton's original post I didn't see any such comment about "why" just if anyone would get bent out of shape.

I am interested in an online poll on Blu-ray.com that inquires as to whether or not the members feel that SPE should start using DTSHDMA and drop Dolby True HD. We are just checking public interest, nothing decided, nothing eminent. It would just be good to know if many, anyone ? would get bent out of shape because they have an early player that does not support DTS lossless.
And coincidentally, as per the op

This is all that should be posted here technically.

Now back to the regularly scheduled trash talking.

And why are we fanboys again? just because we like one over the other? oh please.

If its all the same, which it is, why do you or anybody else care that we vote for DTS? tell us how you really feel about dts peter, cause i already know.

People gave good resons on why they would want dts, but obviously you dont want to see that.

And penton never asked us why should they use DTS anyway, he and sony want to know what do we think about it.

Check the releasing studio to adjust my volume?

Anyway, woe isn't me.

Didn't have any problem adjusting it - once I found out about it. And researched it. And asked questions, and read the manual.

Now, explain to me why I paid hundreds for my player, a considerable price for my movie, and still had to fiddle with all that.

The concept fails the common sense test.

Dang. I guess I hit a nerve or something.

You mean, on the movie's menu? Funny, I've never seen DRC or Dialnorm as selections on a movie's menu. Got any examples?

Yeah, the speakers on a 27" TV set really sound crappy when you crank them up too loud.

Common sense is reading the manual.

Yeah...the "Night Mode" button on the receiver front and/or remote...what's it for? Why have receivers had it for over a decade now?

To the general public, people with children, the millions who live in apartment/townhomes/condos, people with HTiBs or speaker systems with low dynamic capability, people with computers or laptops with small speakers, it is.

For those of us who don't have these concerns, TrueHD gives the option of full dynamics. But at least there's an option, a choice for those who don't.

Sorry, next time I wont try to help you adjust your volume knob. Actually, why do they even have those things anyway? Since, of course, using DTS makes the point of volume adjustments useless anyway...

I personally think it is. There's been times when people have been sleeping upstairs and I've wanted to watch a movie late at night and taken advantage of the DRC option.

Sorry I don't think I can link it since you have to be logged in. Just go to sonyrewards.com and create an account. I am not sure if you have to be a CC holder though. Once you have created an account, join the BD club and the poll will be on the left hand side.

The results today look the same as yesterday.
