It was intentional. I like it.

I find it really annoying that Paramount decided to include what...3 out of the five parts on these 4Ks...but not the last two parts on the later releases?

Yes, I'm still complaining about this! Either don't release them again, or re-release them all! I'm not buying the 50th Anniv Box Set!

Any guesses when the next 4K Trek movies will arrive? I'm enjoying the first six, but I really want to see, "First Contact," in 4K.

Probably next September would be the best guess, given we had the 4 film set last September and the full 6 movie collection this September

Maybe coinciding with the streaming premiere of 'Picard' season 3 (featuring a reunion of TNG cast), or perhaps a bit later, coinciding with the release of that same season on Blu-ray?

I'm hoping Amazon still hasn't shipped my pre-order because Paramount and Amazon are trying to figure out the safest way to ship this without damaging the chintzy packaging. I'm hoping...

It's already possible to very easily spot stunt doubles on the Blu-ray releases (Space Seed immediately comes to mind).

I'm not keen on CGI "fixing" noticeable stunt doubles, even it is just branched feature. The Director Edition of ST: TMP is nifty, there's a lot of things about it I love, but I think I've become disenchanted with "fixing" stuff in older movies and TV shows. Seems like with these fixes you loose as much as you gain.

I'm at peace with the fact that I'm watching a show that's 50+ years old and was being made on tight time consternates, and that there were budget limitations as well as limits to what could actually be done at the time. I'm cool with all that.

But then again, I'm one of those nuts that want's the original theatrical versions of the first three Star Wars films, even if it means the landspeeder effect looks like it was accomplished using a colored marker.

More than likely the workers in amazon's warehouse are playing a game of kick ball with your copy.

There's nothing nuts in wanting THAT... especially after what Lucas' "fixes" did to pacing of ending of The Empire Strikes Back.

I'm seriously considering picking up the regular 4K edition of the original Star Trek because of the awkwardness of the box set. It's currently leaning against my CD player on my other wall unit because I have no place else to put it. Plus, I don't like the fact that II-VI are on the shelf but not TMP. That edition seems to be sold out everywhere at the moment, though. First world problems

I love, love, love the slipcovers on these. Nothing beats original art. The covers remind me of fancy Laserdiscs from back in the day.

Star Trek The Motion Picture Director's Edition 4K UHD. ....Sold out on Best Buy, and Amazon. I had to buy the Complete Adventure ........ but then again I double dipped and ordered the Star Trek I Directors Cut when it became available for a couple days on Best Buy ..... Now I have to decide which one I will open as one of them is sure to be a Collectors Item ........ and my Best Buy order is delayed ....... a very frustrating release

So I’ve binned those and I bought the Star Trek 50 boxset off of eBay, it was cheaper than buying TOS S1-3 on their own!
Still old VC-1 codec instead of The Roddenberry Collection (Wish it had more than one Volume) which uses AVC codec. I have the individual TOS S1-3 sets with the slipcovers on them but would be nice to get Roddenberry Collection as already mentioned. Bought TOS 1-3 prior to the release of that phat bonkers 20-disc case set. Still haven't bought TAS on BD yet.
Going to comission Nissen to custom covers for this, The Final Frontier, and The Undiscovered Country. 4K+BD only, where applicable. Probably for this there'd be multiple options since people might just be combining the Theatrical from the 4-Movie set with the individual Director's release, solely the Director's, USA wonky Deluxe 3-Disc, UK Deluxe 5-Disc, and possibly other combinations. I've been debating on getting the UK Deluxe 5-Disc, not the USA one or doing weird combinations of releases. Of course I'll have it be the same graphic design style as the prior releases.

TOS is in major need of an overhaul. They look more and more crummy as time goes on and the Blu-rays have issues with the original effects branching on every player I’ve ever tried them in. The only way they look relatively decent is if I run them in 1080i on my hdcrt.

What would be really fun and an incentive for longtime fans would be to do a new transfer without DNR or new effects, have 100% original mono for all the episodes-and then for a deluxe version or something (this is a pipe dream but it would be super cool) include scans of each episode from a best available vintage broadcast print so to have a record of the legendary syndicated versions people grew up with. Sort of akin to the old VHS/Laserdisc masters made from the 16mm prints that some fans prefer or claim feel more natural. Heck they could just use those and have a 1080p bonus version of the series in a super deluxe boxset.

If they just redid DS9 in standard def the difference would be pretty enormous. The Japanese Laserdisc boxsets didn’t finish the series but are supposed to be aliasing free on the effects shots due to proper comb filtering th at wasn’t utilized on the US master and thus the DVDs.
