Default XBR4 & BDPS300 24p= stutter.

Ok so now I've tested two seperate BD endcaps, one at circuit city the other at Best buy, running the BDPs300 and XBR4. I set the 24p in the BD player but the TV now has worse stuttering than the 1080p/60 setting.

What gives? I thought 120hz sets remove the motion stutter, not make it worse?

Provenflipper is my witness we played around with it for a while, and couldn't get good results. Aside from the Judder the PQ was fabulous.

We both agreed that the new Samsung 71 series was the better set.

It sounds like the 120HZ set you are using does a 3:2 pulldown process. Some 120HZ displays will take a 1080P/24 signal and convert it to 60HZ and then convert 60HZ to 120HZ. In order to experience reduced judder and improved picture quality a 120HZ display must do a 5:5 pulldown (120HZ) or a 4:4 pulldown (96HZ) with 1080P/24 source material.

Or, it simply wasn't doing a pulldown at all and was not 24 compatible; however, I do not know about that particular model of TV.

I do recall the PS3 causing juttering if the television was not compatible with it's 24 output though.

XBR4's and XBR5's are compatible.

For 1080P/24 to be refreshed correctly at multiplies of the original frame on the Sony’s you must turn off Motion Enhancer. Turning on Motion Enhancer at the HDMI input where the 1080P/24 BLU-RAY or HD-DVD player is connected will result in interpolation of new frames instead of repeating each frame multiply times.

Also this following link is a really good review with a lot of in-depth information on the Sony KDL-46XBR4 LCD
