At the very least we could hope for direct ports of the OOP Vault treasures discs and rare Fox titles in cheap packaging.
Reality to expect: thousands of cheap random collections where 20 old masters are showed onto 1 or 2 discs with awful compression being peddled at Walmart. This is really bizarre news for Disney to partner with Mill Creek. Maybe they’re just going after that big DVD market share that still exists… |

That's how it is in the news on the front page here too, nobody seems to read the details of the deal, they just launch into a long wishlist of titles with no context.

In your favor is the fact that Disney is desperate for new revenue to make up for how badly the streaming division is bleeding. Its fortunate that they have this massive library of titles that they can actually monetize via licensing and selling physical media. |

Disney's even been showing D+ originals on their cable networks lately. Disney has aired season 1 of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder and Monsters at Work two episodes a week since early January, and Freeform aired season 1 of Big Shot on New Year's Eve and season 1 of Mighty Ducks: Game Changers on New Year's Day.

A lot of the early seasons were finished on tape and locked into SD anyway. They could do an SD on BD set like they do in Germany. I'd buy an SDBD set of the first 10 seasons of the Simpsons tomorrow.

And yeah unfortunately in this late stage physical media death spiral all the Targets and Walmarts that I've been to recently have mostly ditched blu-rays and 4K (last time I was in Walmart THE ONLY 4K disc they had was Top Gun and the only blu-rays were Disney/Marvel/Star Wars movies) and now do DVDs only. I guess they realized the only people using discs anymore were people that were so far behind the technological curve that they either only had a DVD player or didn't notice a visual difference and thus always buy DVD cause it's cheapest (I know people like this). So it wouldn't surprise me if a label like Mill Creek started following the trends and abandoned blu-ray for DVD cause it's again becoming a bigger market share thanks to studios that own streaming services trying to choke the life out of physical media. |

I have the complete series of Murder She Wrote which was released on SD-BD in Germany which comprised of 12 discs. Murder She Wrote ran for 12 seasons. The 1st season was released in the UK on full HD blu-ray, but subsequent seasons weren't most probably due to low sales. This SD-BD box set is better than nothing.

As I now realize that this deal between Mill Creek and Disney will only focus on reissues of previous titles, I am disappointed with this because most people will already have what most probably be reissued. This means that Mill Creek and Disney will be losing money by only focusing on reissues of previously released titles when they could have been making money by releasing titles with upgrades to blu-ray which is what people prefer now.

I'll take cheapo BD releases of stuff like Stakeout over nothing.
I'll also take cheapo 4k re-releases of stuff like Aliens over nothing. I'll also also take cheapo releases of Disney+ shows over nothing. So... good news! Sorta! |

Yeh but none of these are part of the deal. It’s only already released stuff and NO Disney branded stuff at all.

![]() It's already been said, more than once, No format upgrades. Mill Keek can only re-release the old DVD but not upgrade it and, frankly, a fullscreen DVD with an ancient transfer and no extras isn't going to set off any fireworks. This thread shouldn't exist. Why did they even bother with a Press release? |

My HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY went the same way. I know there's a cheap import I could get...but I'm more likely to buy it on impulse if I stumbled across a new disc at V-Stock. |
