I've just upgraded from my BP8Bs /CLR 2002/BP 1.2x/ProSub 100TL to a Mythos STS/Nine/Four set-up a couple of months ago. Sounds absolutely great (though the earlier set-up was very good too - just succumbed to upgraditis)!

I have BP7006, and a C/L/R 2300 center... looking at now upgrading my surrounds. I was thinking of BPX's but the DEFENITIVETECH website reccommends BP1.2X's for my system. THe BP1.2X's are nice but they dont have the piano black finish. I really want all of my speakers to match.
Say I get over the wood finish & go with the 1.2Xs is what is the major difference between the 2 speakers??? Are the BPX's sound that much better to warranty that High of a price tag($499 each) If I go with the BPX's will they match my BP7006's & my C/L/R 2300??? or will they be too POWERFUL??? |

If you are so am I. I can't stand the audio in most of my local theatres anymore. Yes they are lound and the bass is there enough to shake the room, but there is no substance to the sound, you can't pick out the subtle things that you can at home. it's somewhat disappointing after buying a ticket to a movie that you'll probably buy on blu-ray anyways.

Hi everyone. I am looking for some advice on my next system. I currently own Klipsch reference, but I like the sound of Deftechs sooooo much more!
I can't decide between these two setups. Either 7002 or bp10s for front w/ 2002 center and bp2x for surrounds and cube 1, or mythos st towers w/ mythos 10 center and gem xl's for surrounds. I have auditioned them both and just can't make up my mind. Will be 75% movies/xbox360 and 25% music. Price is not an issue.. What do you think? Will hook up to yamaha 1900 and maybe parasound 5250 eventually. |

While I was at my local Magnolia, salivating at the Mythos STS, I also looked at the CLR2300. The sales rep said that while they had it connected to the speaker inputs, it could also be run by cable from the center pre-out. He stated that the Mythos could also be connected in this manner. If this is true, I can see the obvious advantage in the area of cable management, but what are the drawbacks to this set-up?

That is the way I have my vintage super towers connected. They have three speaker wire inputs and a sub input. The speaker inputs are connected with solid jumpers. I connected them according to the following procedure:

I thought the single cable connection sounded too good to be true. Maybe this was some sort of sales rep humor.

This is very confusing. The second guy who said this works, is from an authorized Def-Tech dealership (most of their business is custom installation). In the span of six days I've had two people tell me the same thing. Both make their living based on their knowledge of audio/video systems.
Pitbull, have you ever tried this set-up? I'm not saying you are wrong, or the other guys are wrong. I'm just seeking a definitive (no pun intended) answer. ![]() I just sent an email to Def-Tech about this issue. I'll let you know what they say. Last edited by stevejason; 07-15-2009 at 12:22 PM. |

Chet Pelkowski from Def-Tech answered my email within three hours. He stated that the info provided by the dealer/reps was incorrect. It does indeed need to be connected with speaker wire. He also said that an additional connection from the pre-outs, in theory, provides a cleaner signal to the subwoofer. But in practice, he would not expect to hear any difference in sound quality.
I've made copies of the email to show to the dealer/reps so they won't be passing along any more faulty info on that subject. ![]() |
