For me it's an interesting failure that I just can't get to grips with.

Psycho IV is watchable, but no interest in owning it.

Would LOVE Arrow to revisit the original, lose the DNR, and restore the cut footage found in the German version.
I have a custom that does that and it's excellent.

The disc BRONZED. It's a Sony fabricated disc, BVDL, I've never seen this happen with a Sony disc. Psycho III is fine.
The player identifies it as a BD disc, but it's blank, as it seems. It doesn't load, nothing happens. I tried it in 2 different players.

Anyone else here had this problem with this possible bad pressing?

Mine freezes and eventually skips about 40 minutes worth of the movie. Guess I will be buying the 4K set after all....

Better encodes on the Universal discs.

If you don't care about extras (the Universal discs are barebones besides trailers) yeah. Helps that they cost about 1/4 as much as the Shout versions today.

Didn't realize these first reports were over a year old. I don't remember if I saw them and checked my disc back then, but I just checked it now and had the exact same thing: freezes at 109.41 and is dead. Checked the Arrow version out of paranoia, but it plays fine.

It's rather worrying if 2013 discs are dying, as I would have assumed the pressing issues that affected all those Lionsgate and Criterion titles would have been resolved by then.

If true, I’m glad I have the Universal 4 film BD set as a backup.

Are there any other Shout releases that are reported as having bronzing/disc rot? This is really bad to hear about this happening, it's something that seems to be becoming increasingly common of late.
I hope my F13 set doesn't go down this route.

I just picked up the Psycho: The Story Continues 4K Arrow set this weekend. I watched Psycho II and it looked great. I also have all the Shout Blu-rays; I'm curious to see if there's any disc degrading with them. I've never had a Shout Blu-ray that had any disc rot or other issues. The only two I've had that suffered disc rot was The Haunting in Connecticut from Lionsgate (notorious for disc rot) and the Scorpion disc of Sorority House Massacre. The latter became unplayable within a few years of my owning it, and there is a visible bubble/separation on the disc where it appears like the materials were not properly adhered during the pressing or something.
