I'll be buying it but still haven't decided whether to see it in the theaters first. I just don't have much time this weekend.

The thing about Barbie not getting a lot of PLFs in theaters is that you'll not feel like you missed an awful lot by not watching it theatrically, if your home theater gives you a satisfactory theater-like experience.

It did get the big DC for a week. The studios did over book stuff as all these films could've made use of more IMAX and DC screens for longer starting with Indy. Barbie is still selling tons in the remaining late night DC screenings in my area, but it had to give up the more popular times to the haunted movie (which doesn't seem to be selling nearly as many tickets). Some theaters also have it on their biggest non IMAX/DC screens and some of those have laser too or top flight xenon projection (pretty large in my area as well).
