Honestly, I've never seen either or heard of them before I came across this site. But the JCVD movie looks really entertaining!

And thank you, I'm doing well!

Since Kino has a deal with Lionsgate, and Lionsgate owns the Weinstein Company, does the Lionsgate deal specifically include the Weinstein properties or have some provision that might grant Kino Blu-ray distribution rights in the future? I am hoping that "55 Days at Peking" , "Fall of the Roman Empire" and "El Cid" will finally get a domestic Blu-ray release! Given the chance I have no doubt that Kino Lorber would do these most important titles to perfection!

Jacques Deray (The Outsider) directed this gritty seventies action-classic featuring an iconic cast which includes Jean-Louis Trintignant (The Conformist), Ann-Margret (52 Pick-Up), Roy Scheider (Marathon Man), Angie Dickinson (Dressed to Kill), Michel Constantin (The Cop), Umberto Orsini (Violent City) and Ted de Corsia (The Killing) as they battle each other for their lives from the back alleys of downtown Los Angeles to the posh mansions of Beverly Hills. Trintignant is a hit man imported from Paris to kill L.A.’s biggest mafia boss. His unknown employer: the mafia boss’s own son and the son’s beautiful wife (Dickinson). Having done his job, the hit man looks for his reward. It comes, in the form of another hit man (Scheider), sent in to kill him and thus remove any links to the murder. Sexy Ann-Margret is Trintignant’s only ally as he and Scheider play a murderous game of cat-and-mouse. Nail-biting suspense, exciting high-speed chases and one of the most unique and climactic gun battles ever filmed are only part of The Outside Man, boasting an ultra-cool score by Michel Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair). The amazing cast also includes Jackie Earle Haley, John Hillerman, Alex Rocco, Talia Shire, Carmen Argenziano and Georgia Engel.

The larger problem with the Bronston epics is that they need to be remastered and possibly restored first. Fall of the Roman Empire was shot in Ultra Panavision, while the others in Technirama. Not a boutique in the world that could handle the costs of scanning and restoring just one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if it required intervention from The Film Foundation since these are in sort of a weird legal state unlike actual Miramax/Dimension titles.

Count me in for wanting El Cid the most, though.

I thought, and could be wrong, that Harvey himself owns the rights to those along with Dogma. So that could be more difficult. But if I’m wrong, anyone feel free to correct me.

A shame about those Bronston films. But at least we still have King of Kings, which I genuinely think is simply excellent, warts and all!

Warner Bros. owned, but here's hoping that gets a 4K!

Sorry, I can't figure out how to tag a user, but can you confirm that the 4K UHD listing of Scarlet Street is not a mistake?

I'd love to see the director's cut of Crossing Over. Sean Penn was completely edited out of the movie after the film was taken over by Weinstein. I remember talking to the director on highdefdigest many, many years ago and he wanted to do his own cut so badly.

I too would love to see the full length Wayne Kramer cut of 'CROSSING OVER'... the whole Sean Penn footage has really interested me and got me thinking... I also heard that the whole Jim Sturridge/Lizzy Caplan storyline was pretty much excised too (although Caplan does feature in a couple of scenes). I think Kramer was so exhausted and disheartened by the whole Harvey Scissorhands treatment of 'CROSSING OVER' the guy barely directed after that. So sad considering how great 'THE COOLER' was.

There's two different UPC codes, so that would seem to be a promising sign that the 4K listing is not a mistake.

Scarlet Street BD: 738329265410
Scarlet Street 4K: 738329265441

Oh, good eye! Kino Lorber replied to a comment on the Facebook announcement, saying that there's no chance of a 4K. So we'll see, but the two codes sounds like it's true!

Yeah one other fishy thing is the redundancy in the title on the page, SCARLET STREET (4KUHD) (4K UHD)

Well KLI hasn’t always been truthful. Also, Paint Your Wagon 4K was an amendment to a deal. Who is to say this is not one? I’d love it to be in 4K!
