Ghostbusters
Trading Places
Coming To America
Beetlejuice

All taped from HBO. None were retail copies. I only re-bought about 20% of my VHSs on DVD, probably because I was so sick of watching most of those movies.

Independence Day
Jingle All the Way

Mission Impossible 2
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Street Fighter

WOW Way more than I ever realized!

No wonder they all felt like nostalgic buys...

Hard to think this is my first copy of T2 with all the thousands of editions that were released.

I know, I thought it was crazy how many flicks I'd skipped over the DVD version. T2... I had that crazy special-edition VHS black box extended cut, and then I totally shrugged off every DVD release for some reason. Maybe I'd just watched it so many times... and didn't have the need to watch it again until the Blu came out.

you, sir, are a true product of the 80's. I still have Beat Street and Gremlins on the same VHS tape that my dad recorded off HBO back in the day. I also have a small collection of Tales From The Crypt episodes that were recorded off HBO during its run as well.

I bought lots of VHS, lots of Laserdisc. Maybe only 15 DVD's.. I now have 150+ blu rays.

So you can pretty much include everything.

I waited ages before deciding to buy a DVD player. My PS2 was a japanese import meaning very few discs would actually play for me. I then saw HDTV and decided it was kinda silly investing in DVD when the HD era was around the corner. I waited at least 4 long years for the first HD movies to be released on a disc format. I bypassed the HD-DVD launch and just waited for Blu ray and PS3.

I only buy blu rays because its good enough for me now. Even if resolutions doubled or tripled, I would still be happy with a huge 100" screen at 1080p.

I was finally able to upgrade my Criterion laserdisc of Repulsion with the new Criterion blu-ray disc, but it's missing a couple of the original extras.

I guess I'll hang onto the LD too.

I'm picking up Repulsion tonight, and that will be a VHS-to-Blu for me, what an upgrade!

That's too bad they couldn't transfer all the original extras -- maybe it was some kind of copyright issue? I heard something like that happened with their original Blade Runner LD

Kudos to this thread for making me realize I'm essentially upgrading all my Criterion LDs to HD. And I'm still keeping them all, mostly for the special features (if any of you are selling your Criterion Repulsion LD, let me know )

Blade Runner
Pinnochio
Akira
Adventures of Robin Hood
Halloween
Dr. No
From Russia With Love
On order: Inglorious Bastards (I have the "Deadly Mission" VHS)

And I've had Unforgiven on every home video format.

U2 rattle and hum - DVD to Blu
It looks and sounds better at my house than it did at the movie theater. I demanded a refund due to the bad sound quality - it was really sad.

Laserdisc to Blu:

A few good men
Flatliners
Silence of the lambs
Child's Play
Fatal Attraction
JFK
The Thing
Dances with wolves

Still keep the laserdiscs though. Can not part with these discs. Still own about 1200 laserdiscs versus around 120 BD.

Let me put it this way, I upgraded to DVD very, very, very, very late and I only upgraded two of my VHS movies to DVD. I have about 80 VHS movies and about 9 DVD's. There are still plenty of movies left for me to jump from VHS straight to BD and others that aren't available yet which I will buy when they come out. So far this year out of my VHS collection I've seen Jurassic Park, Dante's Peak, Demolition Man, White Man Can't Jump, and Planet Of The Apes. Who knows, I might see a few more VHS movies before the year is over.
