Reading in a magazine there was an interview section with director william freidkin and one of the questions was when is the exorcist being released.. and the answer was the fall of 2009. so there u have it..

one of my favourite movies.

i just hope there's some sort of Limited edition Blu-ray signed by Linda Blair..
just like the standard dvd boxset has.

Actually there is. But because of her head spinning it's illegible.

The definitive cut of the movie is somewhere between the original theatrical cut and Friedkin's 2001 re-edit.

Some of the additional scenes really work but the intrusive over-use of CG and the fact that because the ADR was never finished on the final scene, the movie ends fairly abruptly, with the final cementing of Kinderman and Dyer's friendship not shown.

It would be nice if a branching version was going to be made available, or at the very least, the two different cuts included.

warner has confirmed that both cuts will be included in the upcoming blu-ray disc

The original ending was the best...it was "dark". I can't stand the "Happy" ending of The Version You've Neer Seen.

Theatrical for me as well...

More or less the same here: all I want is the theatrical cut with the original mono sound (presented in lossless). And preferably without the revisionist blue tint during the exorcism scenes or Karras face morph - all of which have been present since the 25th ann. version. Finally, I'd love to see a return to the original 70s Warner logo. So cool and sets the right atmosphere.

Keeping my expectations lowered, all I expect is the theatrical cut without CG horns added to Linda Blair's head.
