Jeez. Just received this with a sale price from Amazon... After I took off the cello wrap the cardstock case literally fell apart in my hands as the glue holding the spines together wasn't doing the job. I'm happy they also included blu-rays with this set but a cardboard sleeve case holding seven discs was such a bad idea. Thanks Universal.

My discs were fused to the paper sleeves by the melted glue that had re-dried and was now attached to the disc surfaces on the edges lol worst packaging I've ever experienced. I was literally in the sink with a bottle of goo gone cleaning things.

After so many years, I've finally been able to acquire this set this Black Friday. I had been wanting it for long to lay my old 2015 Italian steelbook set to rest.
What's the general consensus on the set years after? I heard people say the movies have light DNR and that is true, but it's not problematic and while the trilogy isn't 4K demo a la Sony, it is still a massive factual improvement over what was before. I'd think that's enough, for me |

It is still a massive factual improvement over what was before. Couldn't stand the old Blu-ray of BTTF and I'm not being revisionist, I was grumbling about it the moment I laid eyes on it. I was more forgiving to the other two but they're still dogshit in comparison to the UHDs.

Cleaning that very-thin, nigh invisible but-thick-enough-to-dazzle-the-laser coating does wonders for 'problematic' 4K discs. Another good tip (from this forum but I cannot find who or where I read it) I've had great results with is that data is read from these things from the inner ring out; so the layer change is at or near the outer edge. Be sure and carefully wipe the data-side edge clean before play (most of us 'handle it by the edges') and this also goes a long way to yield a trouble-free playback (especially on BD-100 4Ks for me - LG UBK80/Sony XBR-55X800G). Cheers.

Cleaner could also leave residue, isopropyl alcohol is way better, whenever warm running water and a wipe didn't work it's my go to solution

I have a tv screen cleaner spray bottle I use on discs as well and never had a problem. Usually just a dry microfiber cloth works on its own though honestly.

I looked at caps-a-holic.com for the Initial Marty in Hill Valley scenes when he walks through the square and looking at the clock tower. They look way better than the DNRd blu ray but I don't have any source to compare to a better rendition of that scene.

You can see how less detailed and sharper the image is. You also shouldn't see aliasing on 4k material like what is present |
