I know. I thought the Kino looked nice (with DV, anyway) and I'll stand by that assessment. Also not surprised the Arrow looks better. I was just being a bit facetious about the binary nature of the forum when it comes to comparing releases, at times. It's what keeps me coming back to these forums, of course. I value the opinions here more than anywhere else. Sometimes I just have to remind myself that there can be a tendency for releases to get the flush if a better option comes along, whether the upgrade is significant or marginal. That said...

Oh, I'm a chronic flusher. Been bouncing discs for as long as I've been buying them, often times just for a marginal upgrade, so this isn't anything new for me. But I'm more than likely to bounce a Shout or Kino because I just don't rate them as labels, sorrynotsorry, so when I get the chance their stuff's gone. Already sold my Kino UHDs of Hannibal, Hard Target and of coursh Body Snatchers, and Shout's Carrie has also gone.

Get over to OrbitDVD (https://www.orbitdvd.com/products/th...a507fcc2&_ss=r), got mine there and it looks like they just got a couple more copies. If you haven't bought from them before they're 100% legit and reliable and always ship in secure packaging. Never had an issue with them.

I tend to do the same. I don't have an unlimited budget so some marginally weaker releases compared to their UK counterparts I keep instead of upgrading as long as they're not totally egregious. That's say if a Kino or Shout! release comes first before the Arrow or Second Sight and I haven't held off for the UK release. If the picture quality is a smidge weaker I can live with that, hell I still have DVD's of stuff that have 4K releases. But when some part of the actual film is missing like audio or missing frames, that I can't live with. I consider (most) films to be works of art as should everyone else and I want the complete piece of art as the director intended it to be.

Haha, well yeah you're right. Guess I should have clarified my comment referring to North American releases.

Well, I went ahead and ordered from Orbit, but not necessarily for the better PQ (and it looks like Arrow really did one-up Kino), but more for the fixing of the missing audio on the Kino release. I could have lived with Kino's PQ if that's all it was, but I was pretty irritated to find out the hard way about the missing audio. This is one of my favorite films of all time, so I did notice it missing upon first watch. Thank you Arrow for doing what you do!

You scumbags. Just went to Orbit and dropped ~$150 for Crash, Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, The House By The Cemetery, and of course I added this to my cart before checking out. Because why not. And since I already got the ball rolling I went ahead and imported Naked Lunch, Fear and Loathing, and Battle Royale directly from Arrow. All caught up on my imports now, I guess.

Clear win for the Arrow here, in addition to the better detail, has the edge in color grade as well IMO

It feels wrong to me to buy just one movie when I place an order. And once I have two items in my cart, well, it only feels right to add 5 or 6 more.

I guess the Kino could have been a lot better, after all...

Yea man, I mean I rarely pause my movies when I’m watching them even lol. So if one film has a minute moment of a little less grain, I’m not going to catch it. If anything I’d want the Arrow set for the supplemental material, the packaging, the booklet, and to support Arrow because I do love them.. But I’m more than satisfied with how the Kino 4K looks. It looks great to my eyes and I’ve watched it twice since picking it up.

Picked up the Arrow limited edition set with all the bling today. Almost waited too long since it recently went oop.

I hadn’t seen this movie in 40 odd years and I forgot how good it is. There are a few heavy grained dark scenes but mostly looks great. Sounded great too, highly recommended.

While not ideal, you can order the LE BD from orbit and purchase the standard 4K and just swap cases. You’ll still get all the contents just the little changes to the booklet about the 4K transfer and the j-card. Otherwise identical.
