Rocky I-VI 4K Collection (1976-2006)

Long been a supporter of Rocky 5 and Scream 3, both often put down by people.

I always jokingly called the Rocky of III and IV "Professor Balboa" and couldn't understand how a championship belt could suddenly make him smarter, so I love the return of the slower, sweeter Rocky we get in V.

Always liked it, even the soundtrack. Gets a lot of shit for all that rap but it's a nice change and yet true to the story in a way, Rocky has to go back to the street and that was the soundtrack to a lot of people's lives at the time.

Yeah Rocky 5 is my least favorite, and isn’t great. But I can still find things to enjoy, Rocky is just that great of a character.

You and me both. I grew up with this film, I'll always love it. Sometimes I just think people have hive mind the way they passionately hate on certain movies.

I find it hard to sympathize with folks who have not adopted 4K. The Blu-ray format, while still 100% viable, is getting long in the tooth and won't be around forever. The studios know this, which is why they keep shortchanging combo packs by sticking outdated Blu-ray discs in them. Hell, even combo packs themselves are beginning to become a rarity. If you're still 100% supportive of physical media, don't you want the best quality possible?

I mean, studios themselves don't seem to be 100% into 4K UHD.

It may appear somewhat different in certain countries in which boutique labels are doing plenty work to get catalogue titles out in 4K, but in most territories most of those movies won't likely ever get such upgrades on physical media.

If at all, many 4K versions just get thrown onto some digital platform or streamer and everyone calls it a day.

Love Rocky V! It's probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite in the series. Glad to see it's not as universally hated as the normies make it out to be.

Rocky V is definitely the least of the series but its still got some really great moments as highlighted on this last page

Glad to see some love for Rocky V. I always enjoyed it and never understood all the dislike that was leveled against it. Plus "Measure of a Man" by Elton John over the end credits/montage scenes is one of the best songs ever written for a Rocky film.

Stallone should be more concerned with the bad audio on Rocky II than re-cutting Rocky Balboa, a film that was already a crowd pleaser.

I think what it boils down to is 2 or 3 things:

1. Some of the acting is...questionable
2. The timeline and how Rocky lost his money is messy writing
3. The soundtrack has not aged well (which you can argue the same about 4's ost, but I argue that 80s power rock or whatever you call it, was a much bigger presence in music history for a lot longer than early 90's rap/dance music, and thus is remembered more fondly).

Not sure how many part 5 defenders here have seen the workprint, but there IS a better movie in there somewhere (though some stuff was rightfully cut out).

I still have the workprint. It's a FAR superior movie, it's just crappy quality sadly.

From every fan I have talked to to about it, and I put myself in this group, there's no training montage and there's no big fight.


People hating on Rocky IV in this thread, but I love it. The fight with Drago is outstanding, pure cinema. As a kid, I legit thought Rocky was in trouble.

I like all the Rocky films some more than others, can’t say the same for Rambo.

I loved First Blood and bought the 4K and was surprised at how great Last Blood was. The bookends.

The first Rocky film is as great as any film I’ve ever seen.

I haven't seen Rocky V since I was a teen, but I remember enjoying it. Very different kind of film than the others. I honestly can't remember much other than there's a Don King-esque character, and it involves a street fight rather than a one in the ring.
